Belkin F5U409-cu - can't get my device to work with windows 7 laptop, although it will work with windows XP at work. Both after installing belkin drivers. Have tried changing COM ports - this worked with XP but not windows 7 laptop. Anything else I should change? Thanks

can you confirm if it is F5U409?
If so the solution would be to install windows vista drivers. in belkin site it says that windows 32bit are compatible with the adapter.

Download the appropriate Windows 7 driver from here:

Use the 64 bit one if you have a 64 bit OS, and a 32 bit one if you use a 32-bit OS.

Or you can download both, start with the 64 bit one. If it is not compatible, the installer will complain and abort.

call belkin and see if they have drive for this device.

hello, No this model is not compatible with Vista 64 bit. its compatible with only 32 bit Vista.
However there is a similar model which is compatible with 64 bit Vista and the model number is F5U257 (USB-to-serial).

According to a tech support person at Belkin, this device is compatible with OS8x and OS9x, so it is not going to work with OS10 unless new drivers are released.
