I have met similar problems with it. But I have tried to use Audible Converter to change the audiobook file format for several months. It helps me convert to MP3 farmat and upload to my player! I have tried different converters before, but I recommend AMusicSoft, it will help you get many audiobooks for free. you can download this software from here: https://www.amusicsoft.com/audible-converter/
Where are you located? You can always Google PC companies, and see if they support Archos? if you live in a big city, you could always try the big chain stores like Best Buy, RadioShack, Staples.
Usually, just plugging in the mp3 player to the computer via usb cable will install the driver automatically on the computer. Make sure you have an internet connection on that computer you are connecting your mp3 player to.
Was there a CD with the mp3 player? If there was, the driver is probably there, and all you need to do is install the CD on your computer.
After searching the Archos website, I could not find the drivers for any of the mp3 players unfortunately. If the problem persists, you should tell Archos you have the "Archos 3Cam Vision Mp3 Player" as your product.
There is no official certified flash available yet - but it should be available within 1 month. Until then, you can install unofficial flash 10.1 from DroidX, which is working better than the one provided by Archos.

The usb disbles the buttons on the archos. then you have to use something on your desktop to syncronize. like if you download archoslink from their website, you can automatically synchronize to podcasts you subscribe to. or you can use windows media to synch music or other media to the device. I download books & videos from my library and can upload books to the archos using their software which is called Overdrive Media console. The key is that you have to have some other software loaded that you use to sync to the archos. I hope this helps you!
Check if you have windows media player 11 installed. then go to Setting->System->USB Preference and switch between Windows Media Device, PC Hard Drive, and PC Hard Drive (auto ARCLib) modes. Hope this will work. All the best.
