Playing records and there is a loud buzzing noice, also the sound is coming out distorted, one minute loud next minute quiet.please help

Unit uses a Magnetron and likely a power board called an inverter to run it. Someone would have to open the unit in a way where they might pinpoint where the sound is coming from and then take action--does not of course sound normal or good to me.

This type of audio feedback loop can happen on any mic if you are playing back audio at a loud volume on speakers that are close to the mic while the mic is on - which tends to happen on Skype calls. Try lowering your speaker volume or using headphones to hear the audio, then speak into mic, and the feedback should be reduced.

The input side is the end one adjusts for to ensure good audio capture without distortion.

One it's digital you can play it as loud as you like.

0 dB is the absolute maximum value the Analog-to-Digital-Converter can encode. If "OVER" lights up and stays on more than mometarily you will record a constant maximum level signal with a flat top rather than the nice sinusoidal waveform of real sound. THAT could cause audible distortion at best and severe speaker/amp stress at worst.

Your task is to attempt to set a level that anticipates those loud sounds and leaves a bit of room for the outbursts. CD has so much dynamic range you shouldn't have to worry about losing the signal in the noise floor of the process. Whispering wind and crickets to roaring jet engines on the same recording is possible.

The difficulty in enjoying the entire dynamic range of such a recording is to find an environment that is quiet enough to hear the soft sounds and having speakers capable of reproducing the loudest sounds without adjusting the volume.

There IS another solution. Dynamic compression or peak limiting of the input.

Go on eBay and search for dbx dynamic range compressors. They're available in pro and home-versions.

Some models have both selectable compression and expansion.

I personally own a lot of dbx home audio gear and I recommend it.

I would suggest using a can of compressed air to clean the Wii out. The air should be able to clean out any dust bunnies and dirt that might be creating that noise.

Mine is loud also when playing games. When playing DVD's it is not. I think it is a factory defect on some of the systems. I would not attempt to pull apart the DVD drive and try and fix it. It is working and on an XBOX 360 you should feel lucky that it is.

it is prob. a pipe vibration, window unit are not knowen for quiet running

I'm sorry to say that there isn't a way to make bad audio good. You can sometimes make it a little better but it sounds like yours is distorted beyond help.

Your built-in microphone automatically senses how hard to "listen". Generally, being closer is better but in your case the signal was so loud that your audio sensors "clipped" the sound to protect your circuits. That means there is no signal in those gaps that could even be corrected.

The best you can do is see if someone else had a successful recording.

Not knowing the configuration of your computer makes it harder to analyze the problem.
