My Archos 101 tablet's full sized USB port doesn't acknowledge my stick drives. It did but now doesn't. I plugged a hub in and it lights up but the tablet still does not recognize the stick drive.

This seems to be a widespread problem with the Archos 101 tablet. There have been 2 firmware updates since the problem was first reported, and neither seems to have fixed the issue for anybody, which strongly suggests that it is a hardware issue, in which case you'll need to do an RMA. I recommend contacting the retailer you purchased through so you can get a replacement unit or a refund.

The problem is fixed from what I can tell, in the newest firmware release. You simply run the Archos update process (on the unit), it downloads the new firmware, and when you reboot, you can see the memory stick. It worked here no problems, thanks.
    Changelog here reports it fixed:http://update.archos.com/8/gen8/changes_...

Archos 101 internet tablet cant get out of demo mode

Try this:
Power your Archos 101 off by holding the Power Button for 10 seconds (this fully shuts it down).
While holding the Volume + button power it back up (tap power button to start up, hold volume until the tablet enters recovery mode, you'll see a series of choices instead of the demo mode).
Choose the Format System option.
When this process is complete make sure not to select Demo Mode as Android boots and the Archos 101 gets up and running.

I have a nook app on desktop on my laptop; was given an archos 101, I connected the USB cable to laptop & archos, dragged nook app to USB, but nothing show on the android

first you will need to go to Settings > applications > and then checkmark unknown sources. Then you will have to go to your file manager (like astro) and click on the .apk. The android installer will run and install the app.

Will ethernet USB cable work with Archos 101 as it has host port ? When I spoke to technical help at Archos they said as Android will require drivers, it would may not support, unless I find the required...

Archos support is correct, if it doesn't use a simple interface like a hard drive or mouse/keyboard, then it won't work on the Archos 101.
Manufacturers aren't releasing Android drivers yet for the most part, so I wouldn't expect an ethernet to USB cable to work any time soon, sorry!

Betty,
Archos has been saying Flash would be officially available for some time now, but it's still not out. There is a beta version that I'm using, works great for me:
First step to getting Flash working is to go to your settings menu, then Applications, then check the box to allow for Unknown Sources to be installed.
To get a Beta version of Flash working use this link (from your Archos tablet):
http://ge.tt/36fA44X
You should be prompted to install this APK file on your Archos 101 after it's downloaded, this will give you a decent version of Flash (it's taken from a Droid X which has similar hardware to the Archos 101).
The Version number of your Archos 101 firmware is different from the Android Operating System. Version 2.1.8 is the latest Archos firmware as of Feb 28, 2011, this is Android 2.2.1.
To force an update, you actually need to connect the Archos 101 to the internet, not to a PC. Once you're connected to a Wifi network and have access to the internet, go to your Settings, then scroll to the bottom to About Device. On this screen is a Firmware Update option, this will check for and download the latest. Once it's downloaded you'll be prompted to plug your tablet into the charger and restart it to apply the firmware.

How do I transfer my sermons from my laptop to my Archos 101?

2 ways:
1. Copy sermon files from laptop to USB drive, then mount USB drive to Archos, go to files, external drive, copy files to ARCHOS from USB drive.
2. Connect laptop to Archos with USB cable & copy or drag files from laptop to Archos

Note: You will then need a reader / Office Suite/ or other app to view the sermon files. I assume the files are .doc files. Excellent app for this is Docs to Go.
