Ambient temperature is not within the allowed operating range (10 - 40 °C or 50 - 104 °F).
Allow the thermometer to remain for 30 minutes in a room where the temperature is
between 10 and 40 °C or 50 and 104 °F.

This did not help me at all. My batteries are good, and the opening display (lighting up all the available marks on the LED) is just flashing one a second. I have tried holding down the i/o button, that and the start button together, and using a different set of batteries. All while the thermometer had already rested at the above stated temp for more than 30 min.

Hi got a similar problem, opened up the damned thing and guess: the copper contacts on the board were in bad shape; a little solder and everything is back to normal
