Try plugging it on another circuit with no load (a circuit with nothing els connected) if you have other things plugged with the oven (toaster, slow cooker, etc..) it could trip the circuit breaker as a microwave oven needs a 15 amps circuit to operate properly...

good luck!

Microwave makes a funny smell when you start it also a popping noise

That sound like arcing inside the food cavity. Maybe it needs cleaning? or some contamination is flashing over making the popping noises.

Samsung smh7175wc - dead??

id say there is a bad connection somewhere and is arcing due to that which is causing it to trip breakers. so when you banged it and it started it made a connection and then stopped when you turned it on. open up the back abd just pull the wires anywhere connections are made and see if any are lose.

Boiling water caused large "Pop" sound/microwave not working now

I would guess that the boiling water may not have been the cause ...
If you are lucky ... try this first:
Unplug or turn the circuit breaker off (if it is a built in unit). Wait an hour and then repower.
Odds are that will not clear things up ... but it is easy to try. Probably one of the electronic internals broke.
A number of different internal component problems could cause this heating failure in the microwave. It could be the magnetron, the high voltage transformer, the PC board, the diode, and the capacitor. This type of problem will need to be diagnosed and repaired by a service technician. Microwaves are inherently dangerous to service. This type of repair is not something that you want to try to do yourself. Internal capacitors in the microwave can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test should be performed on the unit using proper testing equipment following any internal component repair.

I have a GE Microwave Model JVM1540LM2CS. It started making funny noises like a fan or gear grinding and then it quit working altogether. I have checked the circuit breakers in the house and have...

sounds like the mag fan went out and blew the internal fuse they are ceramic fuses 15 or 20 amp available at hardware stores ,if this blows again it could be the mag overheated, but the thermal breaker should have shut it off before this, thenit can also be your h.v. diode or capacitor shorted

Microwave won't turn on. Seems like it is not getting power. I checked breaker. I am looking for a fuse. You know where one is? It is a GE Spacemaker(2 yrs old) model # JVM1440WH04

  • Make sure that the microwave is plugged into a grounded outlet. It must be a 3-prong outlet.
  • Make sure the clock is set.
  • Check to see if a programming sequence was entered. Sometimes improper programming or a program sequence such as delay start can cause the touch panel to be non-responsive. Unplug microwave or turn off house circuit breaker for 30 seconds. Plug back in, or reset circuit breaker, and try reprogramming unit.
  • Check the house circuit breaker or fuse box. If the microwave is DEAD and there is no display and nothing works- the problem could be a blown fuse or tripped breaker.

Home Circuit Breaker Pops When Door Is Opened

It does sound odd for it to blow the breaker. It should blow the fuse, not the breaker. But looking at the exploded view diagram, I don't even see a fuse! Makes me wonder if this is some foreign model. *grin* In any event, you will need to replace all the door switches since they all have been stressed by the same overcurrent. Also be sure that all the switch mount and door latch parts are activating properly when you open and close the door. The switches (generic replacements) are widely available from local appliance parts stores. If you need any other parts, you can see an exploded view and parts list here: http://www.geappliances.com/shop/prts/
