My plastic drum seal on my Whirlpool duet front-loading washer is chipping apart. The drum doesn't run true, is wobbly and has a rhythmic rub when turning. How do I replace the drum seal? Model GHW9100LW.

You have more serious problem than just your drum seal. The support arms in the wash tub are broken. The wash tub should always spin true. When it wobbles it is a sure sign that the suport arms or spider arms are broken. It is an expensive repair since the wash drum, the outer plastic tub and the door seal need to be replaced. Check your warranty, to see if some of these repairs can be covered. Get a few estimates before deciding whether to repair or replace it. Sorry.

My washer sounds like a freight train, I have been finding pieces of plastic in with the closth

I dont know whether you have secured the dryer to stop it from moving if it shakes about you need to secure it and make sure it is level(eg the floor is level or the dryer is level and all the leg screws are down and even so it doesn't wobble about.

The more the dryer wobbles about the drum inside will wobble inside the casing and it will break the things that hold the drum in place ,sound like that has already happened.but secure it in place and see what happens.

Drum appears to be loose and makes a lot of noise when on the spin cycle

With the washer empty, spin the wash tub by hand. The drum should be spin true without any noticeable wobbling and spin without much noise. If it wobbles or makes any kind of rubbing or banging noise as you turn it by hand. The problem is that the spider support arms are broken. It is an expensive repair job since the washer has to be completely torn apart and the wash drum needs to be replaced. Get a few estimates before deciding whether to repair or replace. Sorry.

I believe the drum is off, it rattles badly. Also it seems taht the white plastic ring in between the drum and the rubber seal has broken.

If the inner wash tub does not spin true, but wobbles and rubs against the outer plastic tub, when you try to spin it by hand. The problem is that the support arms or spider arms have failed. It is an expensive repair since the wash tub and outer tubs need to be replaced and the washer has to be torn completely apart to replace them. Check your warranty and see if the manufacturer will help with the repair costs. Get a few estimates, before deciding whether to repair or replace this. Sorry.

Whirlpool Front Loading Duet Washing Machine Plastic at drum front shredding

i think your talking about the rubber door seal????
you can change this yourself,,,under the seal on the case is a wire spring unhook it and the door seal will fold inside the washer,,,on the inner drum you will find the other wire spring undo this as well and pull the old door seal out through the hole in the door,,,the new seal is fitted to the iner drun first so you need to turn the new seal inside out to fit it,,,push the seal into the washer and fit the inner wire first then unfold the seal and fit it over the outer door so you can fit the wire spring,,,
easy after you have fitted a fuw 100?

Whirlpool duet washer, inner stainless drum rubs

This sounds like a worn bearing housing or the bearing itself has packed up,either way you would have to strip and check these and replace what is broken

"whirlpool duet makes big noise on hi spin cycle and sandy grey staf is coming out from drain hose"

You have a big problem here. It sounds like the bearings on the drum shaft are going. this is over $400 for the back half of the outer drum and you have to be a very good mechanic to get it all apart. I currently have mine apart for the same problem which I verified by opening the door of the washer and lifting the inner stainless steel drum up and down with the machine off, of course. The tub is supported by two large ball bearings on the shaft that is supporting the stainless steel drum, and they don't sell just the bearings and seal, only the back half of the drum. If it has gotten bad enough to rub against the front half of the outer tub, it will probably have to be replaced also, about $120. This was probably caused by overloading the washer or washing something that was unbalanced and heavy; this destroys the seal between the inner drum and the heavy bearings, also not available separately, and lets water into the bearings in the aft outer tub which support the inner tub shaft. If you want to try to take this apart to verify, try looking at Whirlpool consumer services technical education group presents #L-68, Job Aid Part No. 8178076. I found it online. It has detailed instructions how to take this machine apart if you are a technician or a talented amateur, as I am. Good luck.

Plastic piece stuck between drums

First remove power from the washer. The top panel #2 in the diagram can be removed by removing the two screws in back. The kick panel #16 also has two screws that hold it in place. From there you should be able to find what you lost. Best of luck!
