Welcome to Fixya,
Hi hope this steps will helped you in changing the battery but I just want you to remind that you have to be careful in changing the battery because it might affect the other part.
1- remove the crown by pulling away from the watch, use your thumb and index fingernail and pull , it will come out
2- remove all 5 gold bezel screws
3 - be careful,, the bezel/crystal will pry off easy
4 - be careful and remove the entire face/hands/watch guts all in one easy step,, or just turn the watch over and it will fall out
5 - small screwdriver and remove/replace battery
6 - reinstall watch guts/bezel and gold screws
7 - push crown back into watch
Thank you for using Fixya.
not! you do not remove crown face or hands , crowns do not just pull out , they have to be released from insides. but NOT to change battery. take off bezel, keeping gasket in place pull out stem to the set position. the works lift up opp the crown , slowly lift up, without touching the face/ hands ( very delicate ) as you lift up slowly rotate works counter clockwise. the stem is made to bend / rowtate when you flip over lay it back into case upside down . this protects the face as you change the battery. you will never find a battery with the same numbers ( ebel made sure of that ) but take just the battery to a jewelry store and they can match it up. for $5.00 - $6.00 but that said, when you remove the bezel you have voided you ebel warrenty. they want you to send the watch to them for battery replacement. / new gasket / cleaning at a whopping $240.00 to or higher. batteries last 3 years so over 15 years thats $ 1200.00 . its your choice. i have had meny watches over the years and have changed the batteries 4 to 5 times and i use the same gasket and they all work fine. when you put bezel back on make sure the gasket is in the channel, and dont tighten one screw all at once, put all in , and tighten equily snug then tighten down tight. it is good to have the ebel co do cleaning and new gasket after 10 - 15 years . so keep the old battery and replace it when you do. and hopefuly they wont know you have had it open. hope this is helpful
