I found a website called Fitness Repair Parts that offers spare or replacement parts for your Schwinn Windrigger rowing machine, including the display unit. They have a list of parts and exploded diagrams for the drive system and main diagram of the rower. You can browse through the list and find the part you need. The part number for the display unit is 13000648 . You can order the part directly from the website. Schwinn - Windrigger ' Fitness and Exercise Equipment Repair Parts (fitnessrepairparts.com)
I sorry but I think you need a new LCD Screen,You can replace the screen fairly cheap. I would check out:http://www.elecok.com It specializes exclusively in the sale of laptop LCD screen & tablet LCD screens technology.
Check the mtion sensing magnetic switch thats under the seat rail. It determines if you are rowing and sends a signal to the computer. Make sure all connections are fully seated. You may have loosened a wire when you swapped the batteries.
This was my friend rowing that we received as a "gift" (he wasn't using it anymore) and the LCD display stop working.
Without the user manual, I decided to remove the side panel and by doing so the LCD panel pop out showing the source of the problem...
The AA battery simply felt off inside the case.
So my guess is that either your battery felt off or is dead.
So here're the steps...
1. remove the LCD panel (use a flat screwdriver if needed)
2. if there's no battery, it is probably inside the assembly. You can try to retreive it by removing the 7 screws on one side or simply leave the battery if it's not interfering with the rowing mechanics.
3. if there's a battery, it's probably dead. Change it!
Basically any damage occurs on the screen itself, the screen can only be replace as a fix. There is no way a damaged screen because it like glass. Replacement screen part would cost more than the TV is worth. It's cheaper to buy a new TV at this point.
Your question really deserves two separate answers. First, yes the screen can be replaced. The second answer is a little more detailed. Is it worth replacing? That is the real question. I think that you will find that the replacement panel for the TV will cost almost as much as a replacement TV. Given the pricing of TVs lately, I would not be surprised to find that you can purchase a complete replacement for LESS than the cost of the panel.
