The glass ware on the top rack is not coming our clear but rather with a blurry appearance. I have added the rinse agent on the door to no avail. Is the rinse cap supposed to be tightened all the way or is it supposed to be on loose? Or is there some other solution?

The rinse aid is not emptying into the dishwasher. How can I fix it?

Not sure about the rinse agent but the film is caused by hard water.

The problem is hard water. www.dishwasherfilter.com has a product to solve this problem once and for all. It filters the water going into your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that leave those spots. It is very affordable and even has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look with this product.

Have a Kenmore #13749k dishwasher (for the past 3 years). For the past month any glasses on the top rack are coming out either spotty or w/ a film. Any items placed on the bottom rack are coming out...

If you have hard water, glasses can look spotted and cloudy even after cleaning. Sometimes changing the dishwasher detergent can help. The easiest solution to clearing up glasses that start to look cloudy is toadd some vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before you start a cycle. Simply add 1 cup of white vinegar and it will clear up your glasses very well.
You should see marked improvement after the first time you do this. If they are not crystal clear then simply repeat the process until all of the cloudiness is gone. In fact I recommend to using a little vinegar in each cycle to maintain the clarity of the glass.

Note: you can pre-test this by rubbing some vinegar on an individual glass with a cloth. If you cannot remove the cloudiness by soaking it and rubbing vinegar on it then it is possible that the glass is etched due to harsh or cheap dishwasher detergent and vinegar will not solve the problem.

The glasses in the top rack often have residue in them. The temp is 140 degrees F and the arm is moving freely. I use a rinse agent and am careful about how I load. I don't like washing the glasses by...

Most of the time it is from some food and grease and hard water residue the builds up in the spray arms and the sump area.
You can by an dishwasher clear from most any store it is usually located in the same isle as the dishwahser soap.
Run this through your empty dishwasher on a normal cycle.
There has also been speculation that reduceing the amount of soap and rinse agent will help prevent this cloudy or filmy appearance on the glasses.
It does not matter what brand of dishwasher you have there have been the same complaints about this on the newer models that after awhile usually about the six month period this starts to happen.
I hope this helps good luck have a great day.

make sure the arm on top isnt hitting something, each time you load it each in there and spin it to be sure it moves freely, also make sure your rinse agent container is full of rinse agent.

The dishwasher has a bad smell coming from it

First step is to clean the filter, which normaly requires a phillips screwdriver. -Clear anything that does not belong inside. -check for grease or residue and wipe off, using a grease cleaner if avaialble. -Re-assemble the dishwasher. -Place a glass or cup, filled with white vinegar inside (on either rack) and run a normal cycle withour adding dw detergent. -Check for any further odor.
-Recommend you always avoid using gels or tablets. Rather a good quality, dry powder cleaner (like Cascade or Electrosol) -Keep the rinse agent filled up
Good Luck!

The Rinsing aid door keeps opening in my Bosch dishwaser

I believe paddy55 is correct about the rack position affecting the rinse agent door. When the top rack is moved to the higher position, the rack hits the latch on the rinse agent door, causing it to pop open.

Move the rack back to the lower position and see if the door stays closed.
