Is that the only game this happens to? Is your console is a PAL or NTSC console? Is your TV Standard definition or High definition?

You might possibly have to much memory on it. Or of course, it COULD have just gotten the Sony version of the 360's red ring of death. This will sound really simple, but you probably should call Sony's support and see what they say. Also check in the disc slot to make sure nothing is blocking the disc. You could get a cheap fan to stay on while you're playing b/c many times game consoles just wear out. My best guess would be that their is something where it souldn't be. You might also try playing with a different controller. Game systems can be really unpredictable b/c they require so much human interaction that they aren't always ready for.

I have found to culprits that cause Freezes ( lock up).
First is the G.P.U. has intermittent contact to the main
board , and the second is a chip called the" South Bridge"
aka bios. has lost communication to the G.P.U.and or
C.P.U.
What i normally do is re flow the G.P.U. then clamp it back to the main board . And than if we still
Freezes up ill reflow and or place a South Bridge clamp
on the offending chip.
This will remedy the problem average mean time to failure 9-12+ months
If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Hi Steven,
If your PS3 is freezing up
then you need to stop the heat build up internally and to do this you will need
to get it repaired.
Now you can send it in and they will fix it for you that is the standard method
however bear in mind that there will be a repair charge of $150 for the fix
which is quite steep!
The other way that you can fix it is by using a good PS3 Repair guide.
Just a quick word of advice though, make sure you check out these reviews of
the top guides so you can be sure what they offer.
