Hi, You can buy the battery at any mp3 player accessory store around your area, or you can other on line through eBay.com and Amazon.com.

How to Change the Battery in a Dell DJ-20..

The DJ is an MP3 player developed by the Dell computer company. Like any other battery-powered electronic device, the battery will likely give out and stop working at some point. If this happens to a Dell DJ, the two main options for fixing it are to send it to Dell to have the battery replaced, or do it yourself. You can save a great deal of time and money by replacing your own Dell DJ battery.

Things You'll Need:

* Micro screwdriver set
* Tweezers

Instructions

Hold the Dell DJ upside down so you have a clear view of the bottom.

Wedge a flat-head micro screwdriver in between the black plastic piece and the USB port on the bottom of the DJ. Pry the plastic piece off and set it aside. You should now see four tiny screws on the bottom of the DJ.

Remove the four screws with a micro Phillips-head screwdriver. Set the screws aside in a safe place.

Pull the metal plate out that was held in by the screws. You may need to use a screwdriver to help pry it out. Once removed, you will have access to the inside of the DJ.

Locate the small red cable with a white plug on the inside of the DJ. Carefully pull the plug out. If you cannot grab the plug with your fingers, use a pair of tweezers to do so.

Grab the battery with a pair of tweezers and pull it out. The battery is the thin rectangular piece that the red cable is attached to.

Insert a new battery where the old one was. Plug the battery into the motherboard where the first battery was plugged.

Reattach the metal plate on the DJ with the four tiny screws. Snap the black plastic piece back on to finish the job.

Files on Dj Ditty won't show up on computer..

Sounds like you need to reformat the player, but here is my Dell Ditty troubleshooter:

Dell DJ Ditty

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/P97347/om/OM.pdf - manual

http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dce_djmusic&thread.id=47830 – How to Troubleshoot the Dell DJ Ditty – from Dell

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=PDA_MP3_DJ_DITTY&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid= - Firmware for Ditty

Did you run the installation CD first? If you don't, Windows will load its own, possibly wrong, drivers.

Make sure you didn't accidentally press the player's lock button:
The keys on the Dell DJ Ditty have been locked.
Unlock the keys by pressing in on and holding the
Volume/Scroll/Select dial until the lock icon disappears.

Reset method - Insert the end of a thin object, such as a straightened paper clip, into the reset button (near the headphone jack).

Also make sure your operating system is Windows XP - it won't work on anything before or after.

The Musicmatch service that this player was tied to was discontinued in October 2007, so you’re going to have problems even if we get it working again.

The DJ Ditty does recognize DRM-encryption for WMA files – make sure the license is up to date, or convert the file to mp3 format if you are experiencing licensing issues.

If you are experiencing frequent freezing, or a file system/corruption error, or getting the “Warning! Reformat with Firmware Updater!” message, there are two ways to format the DJ Ditty:

Format using Windows Media Player:
Run Microsoft Windows Media Player.
Connect the DJ Ditty to the computer.
Click the Sync button on the top of the menu.
Click the "Format storage media" button on the right-hand side of the screen.
Disconnect the DJ Ditty and power it back on.

Reload or upgrade the Firmware:
Connect the DJ Ditty to the computer.
Download and install the latest firmware from http://support.dell.com
Run the firmware upgrade program with the "Format Data Area" checked.
Disconnect the DJ Ditty and power it back on.

Broken dell dj ditty.

If you have the receipt or it was manufactured within the warranty period, it would be covered - call Dell (be prepared for a long hold time).
