  1. Remove the front door trim panel.
  1. Position aside the front door watershield to gain access to the exterior rear view mirror control switch electrical connector.

as you see you have to remove the door panel to have access to the electrical connector in case that you dont know how to do it here are the instructions

NOTE: Left front door trim panel shown, right front door trim panel similar.
  1. Remove the sail panel.
    • If equipped, disconnect the electrical connector

  2. If equipped, lift up and remove the exterior rear view mirror control switch panel.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.
  1. If equipped, lift up and remove the window control switch panel.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.
  1. If equipped, remove the window regulator handle.
    1. Position the window regulator handle cover aside.
    1. Remove the window regulator handle screw and regulator handle
5.Remove the door trim panel center screw cover
6.Remove the 2 door trim panel center screws
7.Remove the 2 door trim panel lower screws
  1. NOTICE: Do not pull directly outward on front door trim panel as damage will occur.
    Remove the front door trim panel.
    • Lift upward to remove the front door trim panel.
  1. NOTICE: Insert the lower panel tabs first or they can break when installing the front door trim panel.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure

Removal and Installation
NOTE: LH door is shown, RH door is similar.
  1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01.
  1. Remove the front door window control switch panel and trim covers.
    1. Remove the door screw cover.
    1. If equipped with power windows, remove the door window control switch and disconnect the electrical connectors.
    1. Remove the door handle bezel

  1. If not equipped with power windows, remove the screw and the window regulator handle.
  1. Remove the screws and the front door trim panel.

Section 01-09: Mirrors, Rear View 1999 Taurus/Sable Workshop Manual REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Procedure revision date: 06/25/1998 Mirror, Power-Outside Rear View Removal
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).
  1. Remove front door trim panel (23942). Refer to Section 01-05.
  1. Remove radio speaker grille from cover assembly by squeezing or pinching between thumb and index finger.
  1. Remove two screws from cover assembly.
  1. Disconnect outside rearview mirror wiring connector (C515-LH; C615-RH). Remove wiring guides as necessary.
  1. Remove three outside rear view mirror retaining nuts. Remove outside rear view mirror (17682) while guiding wiring and connector through hole in door.

Trim Panel, Door Front
Removal
  1. Remove cover behind inside door handle.
  1. Remove screw from bottom of pull cup retaining front door trim panel to front door (20124).
  1. Remove three screws retaining front door trim panel to front door.
  1. NOTE: Do not attempt to remove more than one pushpin at a time.

    Using Rotunda Windshield and Molding Trim Removal Kit 107-R0401 or equivalent, remove the door trim panel by pulling one door trim panel pushpin at a time from the inner door skin.
  1. Disconnect electrical connectors as necessary. Refer to Section 01-14A.
Installation
  1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
  1. Replace all pushpins with new pushpins (N808994-S).

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  1. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core tubes. Plug the ends of the heater hoses to prevent coolant loss.
  1. Plug heater core tubes securely to prevent coolant leakage from heater core during plenum removal.
  1. Remove three nuts located below the windshield wiper motor retaining the LH end of the plenum to the dash panel (Fig. 15).

  1. Remove one nut retaining the upper LH corner of the evaporator case to the dash panel.
  1. Remove LH and RH lower instrument panel insulators.
  1. Disconnect two vacuum supply hoses from vacuum source. Push grommet and vacuum supply hose into passenger compartment.
  1. Remove all instrument panel retaining screws and pull the instrument panel back as far as possible without disconnecting any wire harnesses.
  1. Loosen the RH door sill plate and remove the RH side cowl trim panel.
  1. On manual systems, disengage the temperature control cable housing from the bracket on top of the plenum. Disconnect the cable from the temperature blend door crank arm. On ATC systems, remove cross body brace and disconnect wiring harness from temperature blend door actuator and disconnect the ATC sensor tube from the evaporator case connector.
  1. Disconnect the vacuum jumper harness at the multiple vacuum connector near the floor air distribution duct.
  1. Disconnect the white vacuum hose from the outside-recirculating door vacuum motor.
  1. Remove two hush panels.
  1. Remove one plastic push fastener retaining the floor air distribution duct to the LH end of the plenum. Remove LH screw and loosen RH screw on the rear face of the plenum (Fig. 14), and remove the floor air distribution duct.
  1. Remove two nuts from the two studs along the lower flange of the plenum.
  1. Carefully move plenum rearward to allow heater core tubes and the stud at the top of the plenum to clear holes in the dash panel. Remove plenum from vehicle by rotating the top of the plenum forward, down and out from under the instrument panel. Carefully pull lower edge of instrument panel rearward as necessary while rolling the plenum from behind the instrument panel.
Installation
  1. Route the vacuum supply hose through the dash panel and seat the grommet in the opening.
  1. Position the plenum under the instrument panel with the register duct opening up and the heater core tubes down. Rotate the plenum up behind the instrument panel and position the plenum to the dash panel. Insert the heater core tubes and mounting studs through their respective holes in the dash panel and the evaporator case.
  1. Install three nuts on the studs along the lower flange and one on the upper flange of the plenum (Fig. 15).
  1. Install three nuts below the windshield wiper motor to attach the LH end of the plenum to the dash panel.
  1. Install one nut to retain the upper LH corner of the evaporator case to the dash panel.
  1. Position floor air distribution duct on plenum. Install two screws and plastic push fastener.
  1. If removed, position panel door vacuum motor to the mounting bracket. Install two retaining screws.
  1. Connect the white vacuum hose to the outside-recirculating door vacuum motor.
  1. Connect the vacuum jumper harness to the plenum harness at the multiple vacuum connector near the floor air distribution duct. Install floor duct.
  1. Connect the ATC sensor tube to the evaporator case connector on ATC equipped vehicles.
  1. Install the cross body brace and connect wiring harness to the blend door actuator on ATC equipped vehicles.
  1. Connect the temperature control cable housing to the bracket on top of the plenum and connect the temperature control cable to the temperature blend door crank arm. Adjust the temperature cable as outlined under Adjustments.
  1. Install the bolt to attach the lower RH end of the instrument panel to the side cowl.
  1. Install the RH side cowl trim panel and tighten the RH door sill plate retaining screws.
  1. Install glove compartment door and check arms.
  1. Connect vacuum supply hose to vacuum supply.
  1. Install RH and LH lower instrument panel insulators.
  1. Install two hush panels.
  1. Unplug the heater core tubes and connect the heater hoses to the heater core tubes.
  1. Fill the cooling system with coolant to replace coolant lost during removal of the plenum.
  1. Connect the battery ground cable. Check the system for proper operation.

No power to front passenger's door

Look for the connector on the wiring harness for that door. If that door was removed, the wiring harness would have to be disconnected so let that be your guide in searching for the connector to body connector.

No power on front passenger door

Check the connections between the door and the body, not the panel on the door. If a wire was pinched between the door and body that could be the problem. There should be a boot between door and body, peal that back and look for damaged or grounded wires. Repair as necessary.

The LH (drivers) side mirror replacement

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door
