Just purchased a new FG 110 tiller it seems to run fine for a while then I have to release the throttle to keep it from stalling out. It has less then 20 minutes of use. I have installed the oil. It will start back up immediately but then dies again. What is problem? Or should I return it now.

It sounds like you may have a "lean" carburetor mixture setting on the high side or full throttle. This carburetor may have limiters or special screws that will make it difficult for you to adjust. You may try contacting a dealer to see if they could try adjusting it for you or just take the unit back.

We bought the same tiller last week, and ran into the same problem. It will be running and tilling fine, and then just stops. There's no surging or indication that the tiller is under any significant load; it just stops (even in very loose soil). After using it for a couple of days with no change, we decided to take it back and exchange it for a brand new one. ...We were pretty hopeful that the problem was solved after a few minutes of uninterrupted tilling, but no luck. This brand new one repeatedly shuts off, just like the last brand new one. What's with this tiller?

Honda FG garden tiller 110, stoped running, took it apart, the timing belt loose, what do I need to fix it? Or is it worth fixing?

I'm not aware of them having a timing belt. Do you mean the drive belt? if so, it is supposed to be loose. in the disengaged position. and tight in the engaged position. and to answer your question it is almost always worth fixing. unless you have a lot of money and want a new one. I've seen tillers 30 and 40 years old work just as good as a new one.

Honda mini tiller cuts off when start tilling. runs great when held above ground with no load. cut off seems to be associated with the movement and shacking when tilling ground.

Hi thermo259, sounds like the high speed adjustment is lean, find the high speed screw and turn it counter clockwise 1 half turn and see if that helps. Should cure it.

Engine bogs down when speed is increased.

Ok I have r Royobi Tiller (30CC Gas) And last year it ran fine after rebuilding the Carb. This year it was "hard starts" Idles fine, (Tiny whisps of blue smoke in exhaust with correct ratio) Even seems to run better with the choke "on" but still...at idle only. as soon as I touch the throttle...its bogs down in tune with how much gas I give it. Little throttle? Little bog down, Little more throttle? Almost stalls, a normal throttle rev? it stalls dead! Then starts right back up again in 1 pull and idles fine again!? WTF? So after cleaning a clean carb again, (twice) and seeing no change I thought I'd go look at the original diaphragm and compare it with the rebuild kit diaphragm (which is the one in the carb.) And guess what? The replacement has a larger rivet by a factor of "2". So basically it was flooding the carb, I bent the needle tang down, better but no cigar. But I could rev it half way now. A second disassemble to bend it yet a bit further and Vrooom vroom vrooom ****! So check your needle valve even though you think its 100%. (Especially if you rebuilt the carb with a kit!)

I have a Honda mini tiller FG-100. Haven't used

You need to check your engine oil on a very level surface.

Its all too easy to over fill these engines with oil and the results can spell disaster if not rectified. On a level surface, with the machine level (not tipped forward) the oil should just be reaching the top of the threads for the bung. Any more than that and you have to much in.

This symptom can also be caused of incorrect storage .ie the machine being left on its side allowing oil to fill the exhaust box.

Check your oil level first then run the machine until the left over oil in the exhaust box has been burnt off. I would then advise either replacing the spark plug with a new one or cleaning your existing one and checking / replacing your air filter

Motor runs fine at first but when you go to full throttle the motor stalls and will only keep running at a lower idle? seems to be fuel related so I checked the fuel filter its cleen. I then found a fuel...

i'm not too sure but it sounds like theres a problem with the actual throttle. there could be a pressure release in the throttle line thats not working right or like in a car the pully/lever like system that controls the throttle is messed up. i would check to make sure your model has a pressure release or is known for falty throttle gauges. hope that helps

FG110 Mini-Tiller stalls once it is warmed up. After about 15 minutes of use it when stall and restart but won't run under load. Once this happens it needs to be inactive for about a month before you...

The problem is that the fuel cap does not allow enough air to get into the fuel tank as the fuel is used. A vacuum is created and it stalls the engine. If you look at the cap from the inside you will see two small slots on each side of the black center piece. I took this apart and opened up those slots a little bit with a hack saw blade. This allows enough air to get into the tank to prevent a vacuum and the resulting engine stall.

Fg 110 mini tiller by honda

I have had the same problem.
The first time the solution was to replace the rubber membrane underneath the primer bulb. Take off the bulb, then remove the plastic part underneath the bulb. There is a rubber membrane underneath that. The ethanol in the gasoline tends to deteriorate the membrane. The honda dealers sell them for about 14 dollars.

The second time the problem was caused by the gas cap, not properly venting. In this case the engine would start and run, but when I gave it full throttle, it would quit.
It got so bad that it wouldn't even run. I noticed when I loosened the gas cap it ran great.
So I took off the cap, removed the inner parts, and got a diaper in and pushed it though the holes in the plastic part underneath the cap, and through the rubber plug in the center. I did this a few times and check with my mouth to see if I could pull some air through the cap. When it breathed satisfactorily, I put the cap back on the gas tank and it ran great. Now it runs better than new.
