Blocked Passage on ERG System, or Failed ERG Valve, or ERG solenoid Faulty

  • jpturner Sep 22, 2008

I have a 2001 Ford Escape. I was loosing acceleration (car will go into all gears and shift going downhill) and the EGR valve blew out. Replaced the EGR valve and within a mile of test driving the new one blew out. Anyone had this problem?

Very common on Ford engines with EGR codes is the tube inside the intake manifold that takes unburned exhaust gasses and recirculates them back into the engine for reburning, the tube becomes restricted from hydrocarbons and just plugs up.The intake manifold and tube has to be removed and thoroughly cleaned.

00 Camry 2.2 egr problem po 401 low flow new egr valve new solenoid new transducer new map clean passages. I don't know what else to do

Here is an overview for the code as it relates to Toyota cars.
I would go back and make sure the tubes and pipes are clear.
In most cases, the passage is plugged up, or the sensor does not "see" the flow.

Possible causes
- EGR passage clogged
- Faulty EGR Vacuum Modulator Valve
- Faulty EGR Valve
- Faulty EGR solenoid valve
- EGR solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
- EGR solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection
- Dead (Weak) battery
- Faulty EGR temperature sensor and circuit
- Exhaust gas leaks

Abs code PO411

That is not an ABS system code, it is a powertrain fault code.P0411 - Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow Detected, most common cause is a failed electric motor in the air injection pump.
The pump is under the hood.
Other Possible causes- Faulty Vacuum hoses damaged
- Air bypass solenoid harness is open or shorted
- Air bypass solenoid circuit poor electrical connection
- Air bypass solenoid leaking/blocked or stuck open/closed
- Air diverter valve leaking/blocked or stuck open/closed

I had a diagnostics test don't on my 1997 Chevy Lumina. It showed several problem 1) Blocked passage on EGR system, Failed EGR valve, EGR solenoid faulty, Failed EGR pressure sensor where applicable...

All that Failed EGR valve, EGR solenoid faulty, Failed EGR pressure sensor and failed EGR vposition sensor may be telling you that is the EGR valve is faulty and not that it is loaded up with carbon. But I know you don't want to hear that as that EGR cost more than a can of carb clean and I don't blame ya!

If yoy have a multi meter, check out easyautodiagnostics.com, go to the GM section for your motor, chose test EGR and there should be an explanation on how to run some test on your EGR before you buy a new one.

Car is idling rough sometimes, had it on a machine that said it was the egr valve we put one on and it is still idling rough at times said either egr valve faulty , blocked egr passage egr boost sensor...

make sure you check the whole egr system, including, egr solenoid, egr feedback sensor, evp, all of them have to be allowing sufficient flow, just replacing the egr might not correct.also check and clean the isc sensor could be faulty or dirty, that controls your stable idle.
