My Whirpool duet HT washer sometimes will not start cycle after I press the Start button and then follow up with a DL error (door lock). I'm thinking its some sort of short because it will eventually start after several attempts/prayers on my part. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There may be a senor that detects when the door isn't closed. It may be failing or mounted in a bracket coming loose. I had one that the bracket broke and sometimes it would start and other times it wouldn't. I rigged a new bracket and it works fine. You could also disable the sensor by shorting it, but you might have water leak out some day.
You will need to open the case to access the sensor.

SOURCE: Whirlpool duet front load washer flashes F35 shortly after start

Sud= The unit has sensed there is too many suds in the unit it will flush and pump out for 5 min and restart on its own..This is caused by too much soap use..
From the book :
SUD Code=
If too much detergent was used:
—Run the unit through a Rinse/Spin cycle.
—Run a Normal cycle without adding any detergent.
This should clear the unit of the excess detergent.
1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged
or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check wire harness connections to the drain pump,
pressure switch, and Central Control Unit (CCU).
4. Check/clean drain pump filter of foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. Check drain pump.
7. Check the pressure switch.
8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any
cycle.

SOURCE: dL F code flashing on washer and will not start or

"Fdl" is a door latch error code. This is an indication of either a defective door latch, door catch, defective Central Control Unit (CCU), or an interconnecting cable problem between the two. The following link explains how to troubleshoot the problem:

I have included parts resources, and the steps required to replace any defective parts. Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying any parts you may need.

I have a Whirlpool Duet Sport (model #WFW8400TW03) that shuts down when I press start. There are no error codes and the last cycle ran with no issues. The door is shut and seems secure. I can find nothing...

I had the same problem. My control lock was on without the status light on. To unlock the controls I Selected and held END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for at least 3 seconds. The lock/unlock control status light never indicated the locked position, yet my washer now works. NOTE: Select and hold END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds to toggle between lock and unlock.

My washer is not starting in the selected mode. It had a fault code of "dL" which I figured means there is a "door lock" problem. Is this correct and can it be fixed by me? Please help, Thank You

DL error stands for Door Lock.Follow the instructions to repair yourself.

Step 1

If your door hasn't yet locked and will not lock simply press cancel and try again.
If this will not work and the cycle still will not start up then skip to step three.

Step 2

If your door is already locked and you get an "F" error press and hold the cancel button and select drain/spin.If this still doesn't work and your clothes are trapped inside do not resort to getting out the crow bar and a sledge hammer. You can manually unlock the door by following these steps:

- Unplug washer or disconnect power.
- Remove the lower kick panel.
- Reach up along the inside of the front and locate the bottom of the door switch/lock unit.
- Located on the bottom of the door switch/lock unit is a teardrop shaped tab.
- Gently pull the tab down about a 1/4˝ or until a click is heard.
- The door may be now opened.

Step 3

If your door fails to lock and your cycle will not start moderately but forcefully hit the back right hand corner of the washer with your fist. You may have to do this a couple of times, but you should hear the locking mechanism click so your washer is now locked.

F dL symbol on Whirlpool duet HT

It is saying there is a problem with your door Lock. when you close the door does it hold like it use too? try to open and close the door if it doesn't really close properly then you will just need a door latch. If the machine gives you an f11 code then its the main computer board that can also give your the door lock error. I would check the door first though.

This error code indicates that the door is not locking.
Is the washer door firmly shut?
The door must be completely closed for the washer to operate. The door may look as if it's closed, but it may not be latched. Open the door and firmly close it.
Were you washing a large load?
Before you close the washer door, check for laundry items sticking out beyond the door opening. Leave enough space in the washer to allow the clothes to freely tumble. Reduce your load size if needed.
fl_doorseal.jpg To remove the error display, press Pause/Cancel twice.
hcz_003_web_env1.gif

If Pause/Cancel does not work:
  1. Unplug the washer or disconnect the power for one minute.
  2. Plug in the washer or reconnect the power.
  3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.
NOTE: If the error remains on the display, and all of the other conditions above have been checked, call for service.

Cycle wont start then I get Error / dl

the dl code is a door lock error, open door and examine door lock assy mounted on front panel.look for a plastic push pin approx 5inches up from square lock assy.if that pin is missing, replace door lock.if pin is there, you could still have bad door lock or loose wire connected to door lock.

Washer displays DL error

The FdL fault is a door lock error code. It sounds like you may have a bad door latch. Unplugging it and/or pushing the cancel button will not clear the fault as long as the fault condition exists. At best, you may have to replace the door latch. At worst, the CCU (main computer) could also be bad, causing the fault. The door latch can run about $50. The CCU is about $200. Double check all you wiring first before replacing any parts. I hope this will help you.
