Disconnect all speakers from Zone 1 and see if it stays on. If it does, you have a short on a speaker (probably cable). If not, you might have a blown output transistor on Zone 1. I have a DENON that I am fixing that does this, but only when I turn up volume. Creepy. Good luck !
This is a short or unstable ohm load. Remove all speaker wire connections to see if the amp will stay on.
If the problem goes away when disconnecting the speaker wires try this:
1) Check volume level on zone one and zone 2 if connected. If it is too high the amp will go into protect mode and shut off exactly as you described.
2) Make sure no wires are touching any other wire or the metal surface of the amp. This will cause a short and send the amp into protect mode.
Disconnect all your speakers at the receiver then turn it back on. If it stays on, post a comment and I will walk you thru troubleshooting. If it still cuts out, it will need to be serviced. Hope this helps.
disconnect all connections cycle power if the power stays on reconnect equipment one at a time cycling power after each peice reconnected. If the power goes back to stand by with nothing connected the reciever needs repair
I had the same problem with my HK AVR 355 and The Bridge II. Yours has entered manual mode by itself?! You think the bridge it did by itself but You did it. I tell you how! I had the same problem but it's not problem but a lack of user's manual. In the automatic mode the searching through albums and artist on the on screen display is very slow. You are pushing and pushing and pushing the "menu" button. That was the problem! Connect your bridge and ipod and turn on the AVR. Switch to The Bridge as input. It will say that you are in manual mode. Push the menu button on the AVR's remote for a few seconds. And it will turn back to automatic mode!!! That's all! The real problem is neither of two manuals (The Bridge and AVR) tell any words about the function of holding down for seconds the menu button. Its function is to switch between manual and automatic mode!
probably one of the surround channels is blown, thats why it goes into protection, meassure output transistors with a ohm/diode meter if thers no shortcut in the base to collector

Eltax AVR-200 will start up in protection mode if the amplifer went into protection mode due to high volume before it was turned OFF and it will start at the same volume level as it had before power OFF.
To correct this you must shift to another input without signal, then turn the volume down before it goes into protection mode again.
