Hi, I have a Grunfos mq cold water booster pump. It is cutting in and out when the water is not in use, Turns on for 15 seconds tehn off for a minute. I have checked for obvious above ground leaks which there are none of. Thank you for your time Cian

First check with a pressure gauge to see that the pressure is, indeed, dropping. Then, if it is possible, turn off the outlet valve to isolate the pump.
If pressure is still dropping, there is probably a check valve on the inlet of the pump that prevents water from the high pressure side from leaking back to the inlet piping side.
To test this, let the pump run and pressurize the house and immediately close the valve for the incoming water. If the pressure holds, then open the inlet valve and see if the pressure drops. If it drops, the inlet check valve has to be replaced (or cleaned).

Is there a timer for a up1529sf?

Plug grunfos into any timer with 3-prong outlet.
Analog: Intermatic TN311C up to 3-on-off per day minimum 1/2 hour
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html#TN

Digital: Woods 50009 or 59377: 7-day programming down to minute
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#50009

Generally a Grunfos without timer will operate each time water temperature inside pipe falls below 90 degrees.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-recirculation-system.html
So when timer turns ON, then grunfos receives power and thermostat must sense temps below 90 before pump turns on.

Grundfos MQ pump starts every 15 seconds

Pressure is bleeding back through the pump or system to the tank or well or where ever the water is coming from. Should be some sort of one way valve to keep water from going back to the source, mounted somewhere so that once pressure is pumped up, it will hold that pressure in the part of the system that has the pressure switch that controls the pump.

That or you have a leak where you can't see it. (Actually you do, it is just internal and not leaking outside the pipes!)

Grundfos said the problem of on off every few seconds was air in the line. Then

later admitted it was the control unit. After replacing two units in 2 yrs I replaced

When I turn on the water in the house, my pump will turn on and begin running for about 15 seconds, it will turn off for about 2 seconds, and then turn back on for another 15 seconds. It consistently does...

If there is a surge tank in the system this is not working.
Try raising the cut-out pressure. It sounds like the pump is reaching high pressure even when you are using water.

I have a grundfos mq 35 pump to boost pressure in my hot and cold system. due to loss of water recently pump ran dry and shut down. when water returned the system was restarted and pump reset. we now get...

There was possibly some damage done to the pump while it was operating dry and it in now not able to deliver the required flow of water. Pumps wear very quickly when allowed to run dry, even for a short time.

With the water running the MQ pump runs intermittently

This is a problem with your bladder in the pressure tank or the pressure switch. Ether one will produce this cycling on and off. Good luck.
