You can take a Ethernet cable(cat 5 or RJ45) and connect to the LAN slot on the laptop and connect the other end to the device you can to create a LAN with.

I assume the LAN adapter driver is installed and is working properly. The LAN cable maybe faulty. If the LAN cable is colored red then it is a crossover LAN cable and this is a special LAN cable for connecting two computers together without a network hub or router. Try a another LAN cable..

What make and model laptop, operating system etc.
How are you wanting to connect (wired or wireless) which make and model modem you have and they type of internet connection (ADSL, cable etc)..
To change the speaker, you would have to take apart the whole laptop because top bezel wouuld need to come off. As far as replacing the broken LAN port, you would need the exact LAN port. Meaning you would need to unsolderr the old LAN port an replace it with the new working LAN port. Either way you would have to take the laptop apart and to take off the top bezel.
You LAN is not connecting to your Internet Service Provider, hence the LAN has a red X and therefore cannot open a WEB page.
Check your LAN cable, make aure it is connected to both the LAN port on the modem and the LAN port on the computer.
The red X on the LAN should disappear when the network connection is re-established.
Also power off your modem for 1/2 min, and power it on again and restart your computer.
