My camera is completely frozen. It is zoomed in on a picture and will not move when any button is pressed. I even held down the on/off button and it is just frozen.

Press the Review button, then press the Menu button. Press up/down to highlight Copy To, then press OK. Press up/down to highlight the copy to location, then press OK. Press up/down to highlight an option: Picture/Video, All Date, Selected, All Album, All Memory
Card, All Internal Memory, then press OK. The above is from this page of the user guide.
shutter problem. put camera into full optical zoom, turn it to face you and angle it so that you can see into the lens without reflection. In full zoom the internal lens is right up to the outer lens so, even on a small lens such as this, when you press the picture button you should see the shutter close across fully. If it does not you will get either an over exposed or complete white out picture. Or lines across your pictures.
The shutter needs to be cleaned. There is grease in the camera for the moving parts and is probable that this is the cause for the error.
I have found this to be the case for fuji's E900, E550, F40fd, F470, F460, and a few samsung's as well.
Perhaps try resetting the camera. What is the model of your camera? If it is a Sony, then turn off your camera, take out the battery, and hold the power down for a minute. That should reset all the settings and maybe even fix the menu.
Had this problem two weeks ago. On the road to recovery, changing the purpose of the function button seems to have helped me - <Menu>, <Set-up1>, <Controls>, <Func.> Change chosen option away from the top one (User Setting). I found the third one down with the flash symbol least confusing. Then <Set> and <Menu> button to escape from the menus.
Having done all this the camera will take pictures again without pressing the lock button. However, I'm not convinced the func. button works as described in the manual. Hope this helps?
I tried Option No.1 successfully when my Panasonic DMC-FZ7K froze once:
Option No1:
1. Try turning the camera on with the battery inserted.
2. Now remove the battery while the camera is on.
3. Flip the switch on the camera to off, then insert a fully charged battery. (Make sure that the battery's orientation is correct. Also make sure that the battery being used is not damaged).
4. Now flip the camera's switch to ON again. ------------------------------------------------------------ Option No. 2:
If you can open the Setup menu then the camera can be reset which might help:
Turn on the camera.
1. Press MENU SET.
2. Press the left arrow button.
3. Press the down arrow button.
4. Press the right arrow button.
5. Now, press the up arrow button several times until the menu item named RESET is highlighted. Push the right arrow button and then select and set YES when the camera asks to be reset.
turn it on... then as it's loading up... hold the "menu" button i think this forces it to stay on... i changed the green button to be something else... not green mode then i just turned it off and on again
Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem.
In any case it could not make it worse
Good luck!
Press the "T" for telephoto and get closer to the subject. Optical telephoto zoom is like using a telescope to get closer to the subject before taking the picture. With optical Telephoto zoom you can maintain the full resolution and quality.
After you have used all of the optical Telephoto range, the camera will continue to enhance the image with Digital Zoom. This enhances the image inside the camera by reducing the resolution and expanding fewer pixels to fill the same image space.
Use the "W" Wide-angle button to back-up away from the subject or get a bigger area into your picture.
You can even ZOOM IN on a picture in the playback mode for a better look at the details. Turn the Mode Dial to Playback, then press the "T". Use the Enter button to move around the display area.
Press the middle of the ENTER KEY to see your images in thumbnail view and / or scroll through several images at one time to find a specific / special image quickly.
