The chopper board on my WMA63 has two resistors burnt out, On the board they are labelled R10 and R11 The R10 is on the edge next to the 7 pin connector, while the R11 is under the heat sink, next to the large blue rectangular capacitor. Can you please tell me the size of each resistor.

SOURCE: Washer does not drain. Checked r11 resistor

Unfortunately, you cant replace the resistor, you need to replace the board. The cause of the R11 resistor blowing, is the wax motor for the door lock assembly. When the wax motor shorts out, the surge blows the R11 resistor on the board, requiring you to replace the wax motor and an expensive board. Major enginering error by maytag. The board costs around $240 and the wax motor is around $15

Maytag MDB7100AWB dishwasher board burnt resister

first of all they wont give you any specs on circuit boards for most appliances, they just want you to replace the board besides that,if a resistor burnt its because there was a heavy current draw on another component that is supplied by this resistor and you would need to locate this defective part such as a motor/solenoid/heater or the new resistor will end up in the same manner, the 2 oozing parts are probably capacitors leaking their die-electric compound from heat and age so they are in need of replacement too,you might go online and ask somebody with a board like yours for the part values, but still you need to find the main problem for the problem on the board first

Hi!!
This particular unit has a resistor that burns up, this will keep the unit from spinning. The resistor is labeled R11 on the board and you can get a replacement at Radio Shack or similar electronic parts store. Make sure to solder the new resistor in the same position as the old one. Click on the following link for a pic. of the board and R11 resistor location. http://www.flickr.com/photos/zenzoidman/125498227/
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

The door will not lock

There is a small actuator that locks the door before the spin cycle located in the door latch assembly. This actuator is called a wax motor, Maytag part # 12002535 is the redesigned part. It works by heating a ball of wax up which causes the actuator pin to push out and lock the door. It takes around 45 seconds to extend so it is rather slow compared to a typical electromechanical solenoid. The older wax motors have a brown actuator pin while the newer version has a black actuator pin.
The wax motor failure is caused by moisture penetrating the wax motor (older design) over time, which causes the electrical resistance to drop to such a value that the small Q6 triac located on the upper control board overheats and shorts out internally. The triac is essentially an electronic switch that is controlled by a low control voltage, which is provided ultimately by the processor U1. The R11 overheats because the failed Q6 is allowing 120 volts on the triac's center control pin. When this happens, R11 burns and opens up electrically. Sometimes Q6 still looks normal and other times the plastic case ruptures after the failure. However, a burnt R11 is the telltale sign that you have had this failure and the Neptune washer should be left off to prevent further damage to your upper control board.
To inspect your control board you need to do the following:

1. Unplug your Neptune's power cord.

2. Remove three Philips screws along top of washer console.

3. Pull top of control console towards you while pushing bottom of console away from you.

4. Control board is located behind timer assembly on back panel.

5. Inspect the R11 resistor located near the left control board mounting screw.

If your R11 is burnt, you have two options. The first is to repair the control board and the second option is to replace the control board. To repair your control board you will need a 25-watt pencil type soldering iron, solder, diagonal cutters, needle nose pliers, replacement Q6 and R11 components. Whether you repair or replace control board I would not power up machine until the new wax motor is installed or you risk damaging your repaired or new control board again.

If you have not experienced the No-Spin problem consider yourself lucky because you are now aware of the issue and can replace the wax motor before you have a failure. You need to inspect your door lock wax motor and make sure you dont have the older style with the brown actuator pin. Note: If you identify that you have the older brown pin wax motor you need to replace it a.s.a.p. so you don't experience the R11/Q6 failure. I would not use machine until the original wax motor is replaced

My maytag neptune MAH3000aww washing won't go into

most common issue with these is the door lock assy. You need to remove the control panel and check the R11 resistor on the board most likely it will be burnt. This was a common issue a few years back. If the R11 resistor is burnt you need to replace the door lock AND control board or your problem will occur again.

Hope this helps _MJ_

ISSUE: Some vehicles may stall on deceleration and/or have an intermittent stall in warm weather. This may be caused by the vapor control valve not supplying a steady flow of fuel from the tank to the intake manifold.
ACTION: Replace the fuel tank, vapor control valve, fuel fill tube cap and clamp. Install heat shield over fuel tank and reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). This should reduce the possibility of stalling. Refer to the following text for details.
Perform all diagnostics for stalling by following the procedures outlined in the 1996 Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Service Manual and 1996 Taurus/Sable Service Manual, Pages 03-13-5 through 03-13-8. Check to be sure Grounds 401 (sedans) and 400 (wagons) are secure. Check for a kink in the canister vent hose and repair as required. If no other concerns are found, reprogram the PCM using the latest level CD-ROM update disc and refer to the following PCM Application Chart for correct PCM usage. Replace the fuel tank, vapor control valve, and vapor management valve by following the procedure outlined in the Instruction Sheet included in the Fuel System Service Kit.

Maytag Neptune not spinning - further help pls if you can

Hi Charles,

If your door latch wax motor actuator pin color matches the body color (brownish color) then you have the defective wax motor and it needs to be replaced. See www.neptunewaxmotor.com for step by step disassembly photos. Then, I would check the machine control board (located behind the timer in upper console) for a burnt resistor, R11 which is located near the left circuit board mounting slot. If the R11 is burnt you can try the STAGE 1 repair kit, which includes a new R11 resistor and Q6 triac and wax motor or you can purchase a new control board. Don't forget to unplug machine when servicing your Neptune.

You can try to solder the new R11 and Q6 into the machine control board as there is a video on the above mentioned site that shows you how to perform the R11 and Q6 replacement. Another option is to call local t.v. repair shops and see if they will replace the components for you for a nominal fee. I hope this helps
