I have a 1999 vw passat and i need to remove the radiator in order to change the fan. how do i remove the radiator?

Well, there is a catch 22 to your plan. In order to remove the radiator you have to remove the fan first. Check around the housing for the fan, you should find plastic pressure clips that hold the fan in place. Release the clips and you should be able to lift the fan housing and shroud out or drop it through to the bottom of the vehicle. To remove the radiator you have to remove the fan shroud and fan in order to locate and remove the retaining bolts for the radiator. There are usually 2 on the bottom of the Radiator sometimes accessible from the bottom of the vehicle and 2 near the top of the radiator, usually covered by the fan shroud.

HP DV2910us -where to order cpu cooling fan for

Best place to look is ebay. Look it up as a DV2000, as far as I know all the dv2000 series use the same cpu cooling fan. Otherwise, if you have the laptop apart, use the serial number or m/n on the part to look it up on ebay. I do this daily at my computer repair store and have lots of luck with hp laptop fans.

Service engine light is on and code P0526

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) uses the cooling fan speed signal in order to determine the actual fan speed in relation to the desired fan speed. The PCM uses the cooling fan speed signal in order to reduce the cooling fan noise and in order to maintain the powertrain cooling requirements. The PCM supplies power and ground to the clutch hall effect sensor of the cooling fan clutch. The hall effect sensor returns a signal pulse through the speed signal circuit in response to the reluctor track, which is located inside the fan clutch. If during operation, the PCM detects a loss of the cooling fan speed signal, DTC P0526 will set
  • An inline connector could cause an intermittent DTC. Ensure to test for poor connections and pin retention at all inline connectors. Refer to system schematics for connectors and locations.
  • If the condition is not present, refer to Testing for Intermittent and Poor Connections.
  • Disconnect the harness connector of the cooling fan clutch from the shroud. Inspect the exposed wires between the harness connector and the tubing.
  • Inspect the cooling fan clutch harness in order to ensure that the clutch supply voltage circuit is not shorted to the following circuits:
  • The 5-volt reference circuit.
  • The cooling fan speed signal circuit.
  • The low reference circuit.
  • DTC P0526 will set if the engine is started without the drive belt ON.

Fan locked

Wow, after hours of searching I found the right connectors for the fan since it comes with bare wires when ordered from cypower.com.  (The fan to order is Y.S. Tech FD245010MB.)  The connectors are from JST America and can be ordered from www.digikey.com.

Part 455-1126-ND (housing that takes pins spaced 2mm apart)
Part 455-2148-1-ND (pins)

You have to order at least 10 housings and 100 pins but all of that costs about $2.50.

You can also order the crimp tool but that costs $1,300.  I'll just use a needle nose pliers.

Good luck!
