I am missing the SM Bus controller in the device manager tab on my emachines t3580. Running fresh install of Win XP Home. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

    I have already visited the emachines website. when it promts me for my model number (emachines desktop t3508) and operating system (Windows XP Home)...it only gives 3 choices for driver download (VGA, Audio, and LAN Drivers)...it offers no download for chipset. I have also visited Intel website and found a downloadable program that scans for devices but it also came up with nothing which is odd since the machine contains intel celeron D and other intel chips. Plerase help me get rid of this yellow question mark in device manager for SM Bus Controller.

Go to the eMachines website here http://www.emachines.com/support/drivers.html and it will present you all the drivers needed for you machine running XP. Download the chipset first then the VGA graphics then restart and your problem should be taken care of.

W3502 emachine SM Bus Controller driver
Looks promising. It's an INF fie which are driver files. Download, extract, and direct Device Manager where to install driver from. The worst that can happen is it won't install, or you have uninstall / delete. Better than those fake drivers you mentioned.

Had to reload operating system. Win XP Pro SP2. Now the SM Bus Controller can't be found in the device manager I have an Emachine model W3410
Do a Windows Update from SP2 to SP3 and then go into your device manager again. You should see it.

Missing ethernet controller+Pci device+ sm bus controller
PCI Modem is your dial up modem, Ethernet Controller is your Network Card, and SM Bus Controller is your Motherboard Chipset drivers. There missing because your Operating System has Either Corrupt Drivers or they were never installed in the first place. Sounds like a fresh installation was done and nobody bothered to look in the device manager to see if any hardware drivers were missing.

SM bus controller is the same as chipset driver. You can go to this link & download & install the
Aspire E380/T180 Chipset Driver
Windows XP.
