SOURCE: transcend storejet 25 mobile is not recognised

if your unit only uses one cord ( USB ) for data and
power , the unit side may be damaged , the life span
of the USB hubs and the cords that use them are not known sometimes for no reason whatsoever they stop
working , and is the most common reason for hard
ware to malfunction , and it is possible to replace
the outer closure , remove the HDD you can find
a suitable replacement closure at radio shack for
40$ that allows you to hook up a 2.5 SATA HDD
to any computer Gigaware makes a very nice
portable model , if the HDD works then you have
just trouble shot the closure to the HDD .

Hi,

Even though it is possible that your USB hard driveis corrupt, but

before you finally conclude, try out these few troubleshooting

steps.

First of all, it is possible that the USB port that you are using is a

USB 1.0 port, which has a lower voltage not enough to

power on your Storage drive.

In this case, there are two things you can do,

1. Change the USB port you are using for the storage drive to a

USB 2.0 one (Just keep Checking all the ports one by one in case

you dont know which one it is).

2. If your Storage drive has external power facility, just plug it in

an external power first, before connecting it to the system.

If there are no USB 2.0 Ports on your system at all,

then just go to any electronic store and tell them you want to buy

a USB 2.0 Expansion card.

and if it is a laptop, A USB 2.0 PCMCIA card.

Install it on your system, and connect your external drive through it.

Meanwhile, before you try out the second option, test the drive on

a friend's system, that you are sure has a very good system, with

USB 2.0 port.

If after trying out all these, the USB Drive still doesn't work, then

I'm afraid, the drive might have been bad/spoilt.

Kindly keep me posted about the problem and let me know how it

goes

Hope this helps you out.

My Transcend 500GB is not working on my Dell Inspiron 1464 Windows 7 Home Basic But other USB devices like pendrive etc works fine. Also My Transcend 500 GB works fine on other machine has Windows 7...

The chances are that the portable drive is drawing more current fom the USB port then the port can supply. The current limitations on the USB ports are controlled electronically and if anything is connectedthat attempts to draw more power then the port can safely supply, the port is shut down.
You may have to use a USB power injector which you plug into the laptop and then plug the drive into that.

Transcend Storejet 25 HDD is not getting detected in Windows XP as well as in windows 7

If it is a brand new hard drive, it has to be initialized first. In the old days we used to use FDISK but now Windows will do it automatically when setting up a system on it.
