I just got a refurbished Garmin Nuvi 350 and tried transferring music from mp3 file to this unit. I can connect USB connector to Garmin and computer and device shows up in My Computer. I double click on that device and folders open up. I double click on MP3 folder and paste in new music files from my computer, but cant get it to load on Garmin. When I check the Mp3 on Garmin it does not show any songs in Mp3. Was able to delete the preloaded songs on Mp3 on Garmin Gps but cannot get new songs loaded. Can anyone help please?
The device is not recognizing the file name. The Garmin GPS will only recognize MP3 files. Ipod (MP4) and other media files will not play. Converting the files to the MP3 format will correct the problem.
Do you get any error messages when you attempt to paste the files?
Here's some things that you might try.
On your computer, create a folder and name it MP3. In this folder, put some MP3 files. Copy this folder and its contents to the Nuvi. You should get a message saying that a folder named MP3 already exists and asks if you want to replace it. Say yes. The newly created folder should replace the one that is already there and your files should be in it. This may fix the problem permanently as the existing MP3 folder may be corrupted.
You can try an SD card with the MP3 files on it. I use one and the Nuvi finds and plays them just fine. Put the card into the Nuvi and connect the Nuvi to your computer. The computer will see the card as a separate storage location. Create a MP3 folder on the card and put your files in that folder.
If that doesn't work, put the folder and files on the card directly and then put the card into the Nuvi. If your computer does not have an SD slot, you can get an adapter that plugs into your computer's USB port and accepts the SD card. They are inexpensive and available at most electronic/computer stores. This would eliminate the problem of not being able to write to the Nuvi as everything would be done directly on the card.
Good luck. Hope this helps
