Loading mp3 files to garmin nuvi 350

I just got a refurbished Garmin Nuvi 350 and tried transferring music from mp3 file to this unit. I can connect USB connector to Garmin and computer and device shows up in My Computer. I double click on that device and folders open up. I double click on MP3 folder and paste in new music files from my computer, but cant get it to load on Garmin. When I check the Mp3 on Garmin it does not show any songs in Mp3. Was able to delete the preloaded songs on Mp3 on Garmin Gps but cannot get new songs loaded. Can anyone help please?

The device is not recognizing the file name. The Garmin GPS will only recognize MP3 files. Ipod (MP4) and other media files will not play. Converting the files to the MP3 format will correct the problem.

Do you get any error messages when you attempt to paste the files?

Here's some things that you might try.

On your computer, create a folder and name it MP3. In this folder, put some MP3 files. Copy this folder and its contents to the Nuvi. You should get a message saying that a folder named MP3 already exists and asks if you want to replace it. Say yes. The newly created folder should replace the one that is already there and your files should be in it. This may fix the problem permanently as the existing MP3 folder may be corrupted.

You can try an SD card with the MP3 files on it. I use one and the Nuvi finds and plays them just fine. Put the card into the Nuvi and connect the Nuvi to your computer. The computer will see the card as a separate storage location. Create a MP3 folder on the card and put your files in that folder.

If that doesn't work, put the folder and files on the card directly and then put the card into the Nuvi. If your computer does not have an SD slot, you can get an adapter that plugs into your computer's USB port and accepts the SD card. They are inexpensive and available at most electronic/computer stores. This would eliminate the problem of not being able to write to the Nuvi as everything would be done directly on the card.

Good luck. Hope this helps

Make sure you have a folder named "mp3" on the SD card and that the files are in that folder. Try pressing the "source" button in the mp3 player to grab thefiles from the SD card. Also, if there are a lot of files, it may take a while for the Nuvi to read them all before they are displayed.

How do download music to a garmin

The music must be in a MP3 format with an .mp3 extension on each file. You need a USB cable to connect your Nuvi to your PC. Once you have the files on your PC, just copy and paste them onto your Nuvi directory in the MP3 folder.

How to put music on my tom tom go 730 Can't figure out how to put music on my Garmin Nuvi GPS 650

It should work the way other Garmin units work. Plug the unit into the computer via the USB cable. The computer should recognize the unit as a mass storage device. Click on the Garmin (it should be shown under your storage devices) and you should see a folder marked MP3. Drag and drop the music files you want into this folder, then disconnect the unit (safely, of course). That should do it.

Garmin Nuvi 310

When connected via USB, the unit should connect with activesync as "Mobile Device". Browse this device with explorer and you should see your (formatted) SD card as \Mobile Device\SDMMC\ or \Mobile Device\sdcard\
Simply drag and drop mp3 files to this folder. If you have a card reader in your computer you can move files to the sd card without having to have
the unit connected.

When you connect your Garmin to your PC (using the USB lead)you should see the Garmin as a removable drive. Just use the file manager (Windows Explorer) to transfer the mp3 files from your pc to your Garmin MP3 directory.

Garmin nuvi 650

No need to format and please do not try to change anything from the GARMIN files.

MP3 only can be read. Use SD to read or you can drop into the proper file when you plug to your computer. The file name GARMIN include many files. One of them is for MP3 , you will see example of music inside. Please do not play with other GARMIN FILES or you will had some problems with your unit.
Please refer to your manual 650, for the proper way to listen or insert MP3.
