Hello,

First, the service manual for your Coby DVD 218 is not available. The manufacturer of the player did not produce a service/repair manual for it.

The problem might be from the audio cord of the player. Use another audio wire and observe the sound. Also, there are more that one audio out put at the back of the player, you could test other audio outputs on the player.

I just hope it is not an audio output problem as you guessed, because fixing is not as easy as you think.

Good luck.

I have an Aiwa Amd-218 mini hi-fi but somehow, every time I turn it on, I get blasted with the volume on 16. How do I set it to a lower level?

There is likely a small battery on the motherboard that saves the last setting. The equivalent of the BIOS Battery in a computer. It probably needs replacing.

No Service Manual on file :>(

No sound from bose 321

You need to localize. Play a DVD, does the same audio cutout happen? Do you have the center dvd or the left mounted dvd? The console unit has input jacks for external audio inputs, put an external audio source in and see if the same cutout occurs. See if the external output jacks lose audio or just the system speakers, including subwoofer. This may help localize which unit has the problem.

Is the console stacked above or below other electronic units, it may be a heat related cutout? Reseat all your interconnect cords, I have seen corrosion occur on the square connectors.

These are expensive to have repaired, good luck. If you're daring enough, you make find free service manuals on websites like Elektrotanya, hifimanuals, hifiengine, and eserviceinfo (.com)

Why is there no sound?

hello, the most common problem with these devices is,1 of 2 culprits, either you have 'DRY' solder on output terminals (within the device)or the main sound output chip's are blown. hope that helps, cheers.

My marantz DV 9500 doesnt output digital signal for audio cd anymore but outputs audio for dvd, sacd, dvd audio. Does it need servicing

Make sure your playing componet like CD player have a digital output socket. Connect this to a digital port on the amp witk a single RCA or Optical cable if output available on CD. Make sure the digital assingment in amp is set for cd function and corresponding input(example cd plyer connected on dig 4 input on amp, press menu, setup, assignment, go to cd player, make sure setting on dig 4 or change input to dig 4, go to next component to memorise setting.and exit, see manual to assist you) if still no sound take dvd cable for instance that is working and put that in dig 4 port. if that works check in cd player that settings spdif/raw/pcm is correct one for yor digital output if still no sound soun pc board faulty.

Disconnect all speaker wires and signal cables from the amp. If it powers up (no protect light), the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down (goes into protect), the amp likely has blown output transistors.

Dvd audio quieter than vcr audio

There may be an audio adjustment in the dvd player that wasenr set up at the factory correctly. depending on how old the unit is I would contact the manufacturer and see if its under the factory warranty as you DO NOT wanna go inside and start turning controls as this will or could throw the entire alighnment out of the dvd player. I(f theres no warrantee then you could ask them if theres an audio output adj and what the pot # was. Or else your gonna need to get a service manual and throw ya back a few bucks. But my guess is that if you bug the service guys enough they will tell you where the adjustment is. Good luck
