Putting a scanner on your car will not help by any means. call the dealer with your v.i.n. and they should be able to give you the unlock code. you may need to show proof of ownership.

Most radios and cd players in cars require a code to get them operating again after they have been disconnected from the battery for an extended time. Hopefully a dealer could help you locate the code for that model.
call your dealer and give them the sn# on the unit on the top of radio they will give you the code to un lock just tell them you replaced the batt and you dont have the code to unlock .they will ask you for the numbers on unit as long it is a stock radio
If you were putting it in the correct place( a black plastic cap with a picture of a windshield on it), then it sounds like the plastic resoivoir is cracked. This happens when people leave plain water in the system in the winter and it freezes and breaks the plastic jug.
You have to go to a chevy dealership to have them unlock the radio. They use a special code that will unlock the radio and then allows you to pick a new code. Hope this helps.
You need to pull the radio back out and get some numbers off of it and call the dealer. Or just take the radio by the deal parts department.They will tell you what the code is you need to punch in.
