I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop. The power light is on but it does not work. I tried unplugging and removing the battery, but the problem remains. I don't hear anything and the battery light is not on.

hi , my name is vivin uppar.......

my laptop is not working.... the problem's same as mentioned by asheri...

the power indication light is on when i press 'power on' button, but computer doesnt run.... and on connecting to the ac power supply... the battery light (which when working normally, is orange if not completely charged and blue if it is charged completely) doesnt lit only....

also i took of the battery and tried running from ac power supply alone, even then it's not turning on....

i also tried (fn + f5) to change he display settings , which i saw in other blogs.. but that doesn't solve either because my laptop is absolutely not running......

please try finding a solution for this....

Try reseating the ram memory. If this does not work then try using new ram.

What's your problem?toshiba satellite l555 s7916 wil not boot

Try Resetting the CMOS on your Motherboard.
Turn off the Laptop and unplug it
Remove the battery
undo the RAM cover
Remove the RAM
plug the laptop into the power
Turn the PC on and listen for some beeping noises
If you hear the beeping noises turn the laptop back off
Unplug the charger
Replace the RAM into the RAM slots
Replace the the battery
Plug in the laptop and power it up.

if you get video output, that's Great, if not, it's possible that you have a faulty screen

We have toshiba satellite pro laptop which was working fine. Now it will not turn on and the caps lock, f10 and f11 lights are illuminated even though laptop not turned on. Nothing happens when we press...

Remove all power sources.
Remove hard drive and Ram.
Fit AC adapter and press on. If the laptop complains as there are now no periferals, power down the laptop.
If it still dosn't power up at all, you have a motherboard fault and cannot continue. A Toshiba Computer Repair Cetre will help you out.
If it did work;
Disconnect power source.
Fit RAM and try again. If that still works but now states that there is no OS, power it down and with power source removed fit the hard drive.
Power up again with AC Adapter. Hope fully all now should be well or at least you now know where your fault lies.
I hope that helps.

Toshiba satellite l505d

unplug laptop and remove battery. Take out both memory sticks and locate on the motherboard under sticks two points marked with ***. Replace one memory stick, plug ac adapter back up and while jumping the two points at the *** (use paperclip, flathead screwdriver or other metal object to connect the points) power up computer. This, if done properly, will reset bios, removing password.

My daughters Toshiba satellite l505d will not boot up correctly. It starts but then nothing happens. What do I need to do. Have already taken battery out and restarted. Any help would be helpful.

Try the following.
1. Remove battery and plug in the AC Adapter and check if it works
If yes - Battery is defective
If no - Motherboard Problem/AC adapter

2. Check the AC adapter LED indicator if its lighted or not(double check by a multitester)
If lighted - it works properly
if not - replace
3. Try to reinstall WINDOWS operating system by the use of the installer CD
4. Reformat your computer and install necessary drivers and applications

Thanks. Cheers!

My Toshiba satellite A135 doesn't power on, it just flashes the power light when i plug in the charger, and the battery light doesn't light up at all. I already replaced the charger so it is not that.

clear the cmos(bios), you must unplug the battery on mainboard(if you are an expert and you can open the laptop) for 10 hours (or short it) then power the laptop.
