This is how you do it Lower handle and place vacuum on floor so you can see bottom of power head. Examine the power head to remember what it should look like when finished. Unscrew the four screws (Phillips screwdriver). Lift off cover. Lift out brush. Remove belt from brush and motor shaft. Place new belt around motor shaft, then around brush just prior to reinserting brush. Make sure the belt is placed correctly. Reinsert brush in slots. Rotate manually toward motor a few time to center the belt. Replace cover and screws. Tighten securely. Check cover to make sure it's properly secured.

Bissell 3522 can use to wooden hard floor

Hi Marian. Thanks for asking this question. The Powerforce vacuum has a bare floor setting; however, you may want to contact the hard floor manufacturer for their recommendation regarding the use of a rotating brush.

How do I change the belt? Do I have to twist the belt.

You do not have to "twist" the belt.
You should be able to find your answer at this URL:
http://www.bissell.com/product_search.aspx?searchType=main&searchtext=3522
Look at the users guide for information on changing the belt. I would suggest that while you are changing the belt, also take time to clean the beater brush, you have to remove it anyway to change the belt. Clean the brush as best you can and add some WD40 to both ends between the brush and the small plastic pieces that hold it in place with the vacuum.

Vacuum Blows out filter side but won't **** and all hoses are clear

Did you change the belt recently? Some belts can go on backwards (blowing out through the filter) and cause this problem. Hope this helps and good luck!

Brush heads won't spin

Your belt is stretched, worn or broken and therefore not turning the brush. Here is a link for the replacement belts you need and the manual which has instructions:

Bissell power force

turn vac over, take of the access plate covering the brush roll, may be 2 to 4 screw. Then you can get to the brush roll and belt. It uses a Bissell Style 7 belt.

Bissell proheat 2x

Yes, there are belts for both sides, but if they look ok, then the brush motor may be bad. Brush motor part # 2036757 , right side belt # 2036804 left side belt # 2036688
