Hi I live in South Africa (22o Volts, 60 Hz) and recently bought a Krups GVX212 Burr coffee grinder form Amazon.com. It had a USA plug and I used a USA-South Africa plug adapter. When I first used last night it it heated up quite a bit and this morning it does not want to start. I suspect the fuse may have gone, how do I check/fix it? Regards, Pierrie

Krups gx6000 grinder advertises removable burr grinders and there are no instructions, but is that the best way to clean them?

Hi,
the Krups instruction manual is useless in this matter but if you do have some mechanical insight this is not very hard. You will need some tools, e.g. an Allen wrench to remove the housing lid.
Anyway, you should not have to clean the grinders very often, perhaps once a year is enough. It depends on the quality of the coffee beans you use; the more 'oily' beans the more frequent cleaning is required.
I would not use water to clean it, rather a small stiff brush (e.g. an old tooth brush), but if that is not enough, water will have to be used.
If so, be sure to assemble the grinder only after the burr is completely dry.
Check the link to Home Barista where a very similar grinder is shown, that should give you an idea about what to expect during the cleaning process.
Good luck;

Krups burr coffee grinder - When I push the power button it flashes on briefly and then stops. It has briefly ground some beans so it working to some extent. Any ideas what is causing the grinder to...

Empty the grinder and see if it will run with no coffee bean in it. Some times debris will get caught in the grinder because it got mixed with the beans from the factory. If it runs your good to go. If not then the mother connection are not solid and it will run off and on at will.

How to disassemble krups GVX coffee grinder

It's pretty simple when you know how.
Yeh, it's a very cheap Grinder to replace (£30) but when you can buy a pair of burr plates at £8 which includes p&p, it's worth the 40 minute fix, even if for curiosity and satisfaction!

Krups GVX2-12 grinder - ground coffee and container full of static so coffee sticks all over, including inside the container. Any ideas?

Most plastic products contain enough carbon black to neutralise this problem. Obviously not with yours.

Try a camera accessory cleaning cloth - specifically anti-static.

Cleaning less often will also help, and maybe a quick brush out would result in less mess.

Natural fibres like cotton cloths or bristle brushes will also help.

Coffee naturally has oils that, if left on, will eliminate this problem anyway.

Cannot get my krups burr grinder gvx 2 to turn on or do anything. there are no instructions in the box.

Hi,

The GVX2 has two micro switches. one on the top hopper (in the groove on right hand side) and the other in the space the coffee holder (collector) fits into.

The coffee collector micro switch is activated by the lid of the collector.

You have to listen for a small "click" as you place the hopper on and again as you insert the coffee collector.

Fill out water

The Krups Burr Grinder GVX2 featured in the picture is not a coffee maker, per se, it only grind coffee beans to use in other coffee makers. It is a lousy machine, and I would recommend returning it or not buying it.
DO NOT PUT WATER INTO THIS MACHINE. It will cause electric shock.
