No Picture on AV

My Magnavox Smart Series 13" suddenly lost picture in AV. This happened a while ago and after leaving if off for about a week it suddenly was back. It happened again after the Dish Technician came to install a new hd receiver in my living room where I get the signal for the small tv in my loft above the living room. I use a Leap frog set from Radio shack to watch the same programing up stairs as down. The new receiver doesn't have enough red, yellow and white plugins for the leap frog sender unit so I found the output on the back of my hd tv, but no picture now. Suggestions?
I tried everything in the menu, but no go.

Thanks for any help you can give me,

Paula in Montana

It was not a problem with the TV. I needed to purchase Y cables so I could run my audio to both the HDTV and the Leap Frog unit for Magnavox. Then just plug the yellow cable directly into the back of the reciever. Viola!

No picture showing after power on.

If this does not happen with other devices then I would say try a new video cable. HDMI cables can get very picky. If this happens at anytime then the inverter in TV is going out.

JVC D-Series TV top of picture shrinking

There are probably two capacitors that are bad in the vertical circuit. Not too hard to replace if you have any experience at all. Find the vertical output IC ( usually IC451 or similar ) and simply change the closest electrolytic capacitors. A professional can do this easily. Could cost up to $150.

Everything works except picture

Most probable cause is the vertical output IC. You can get a replacenment at the following link.

Old Sylvania model #6420FB lost remote how to switch to av mode

Unless the TV has a front-panel menu button and allows you to switch modes from there, you are out of luck. There are two possibilities. One is to try another replacement remote. If you get a universal remote made by the TV manufacturer (Magnavox), it may have buttons that will work. The other option is to purchase an RF converter, which will cost around $15. This will take the video/audio signals from the game and convert it to a channel 3 or 4 signal you can then tune in on the TV. The picture won't be quite as bright and clear as with direct AV input, but it will do the trick.
