sounds like your computer isnt picking up the keyboard you may need a driver for it try searching the net for you type of keyboard and model and see if you can find a driver to download for it
Because you need to load the drivers for these devices. Windows 7 should have picked them up if not go to Windows Updates and see if they have provided a download for your keyboard and mouse I'm assuming it is a wireless or a plug and play corded, if that does not solve it for you power the computer completely down remove the power cord from the Power Supply Unit press the power button for about 1-2 seconds to discharge the computer. Make sure you connect both the keyboard and mouse into the correct slots. One is for Mouse and this is usually the green colored slot and purple is the common for the Keyboard slot. Power computer back on and it should pick them up. If not the device may be faulty. Win 7 usually will pick up these devices with ease. Unless the unit is bad itself. John
You need the wireless signal receiver. Cordless mice and keyboards send out a signal that needs to be picked up by your computer. Most of these systems plug into your USB. Here's a photo:
It should look something like that device on the mid-right side of the photo. That device will pick up the signals. It plugs into your USB. I hope this helps!
if they are USB or PS/2 Just turn off your computer unplug the old keyboard and mouse and plug the new ones in. It may take windows a minute or two to recognize the new keyboard and mouse.
This may or may not be a solution but 1 try putting brand new batteries in the mouse and keyboard and move all cellular and cordless devices away from the computer. Other than that see if there's a coloration between how much is going on in the PC (like how much cpu\ram\disk reading) and the times when the pc doesn't pick up the key strokes. Lastly is the keyboard clean?
THERE SOULD BE A LITTLE HOLE ON THE BUTTOM OF THE MOUSE, PUSH IT UNTIL THE COMPUTER SAYS IT HAS FOUND A NEW DEVICE, THE KEYBOARD SHOULD ALSO HAVE ONE OF THOUSE BUTTONS TOO.
