Light switch on Breville SK500-XL Kettle

When switch is turned on to boil water, the light does not appear.  Kettle does boil water with switch on, however.  Please advise how to correct and/or availability of any parts that might be required

Breville vkj628 on off switch faulty

Parts for these items are often bespoke and impossible to find.
The best option is to replace the kettle with a new one.

Kettle doesn't turn off

Our first Smart Kettle was great and worked well for years, finally died so we bought another. Right from the first boil it seemed to boil for about 2 or 3 minutes before turning off and then either didn't boil or made beeping sounds when not being used so after a couple of weeks we returned it and it was replaced. Great. But now this new one seems to boil and boil before turning off so maybe they are just faulty now. Any suggestions?

Switch has stopped working, kettle will not heat water

Hi Bruce or anyone else that has this problem.
I had this problem too and after pulling the base off I found that the switch was ok but the problem lay with the two bi-metallic thermal overload switches that are connected to the heating element. I managed to reset them both and now the kettle works fine. This can become an issue if you have accidently boiled the kettle dry once in it's life. Best of luck.

Intermittently working

That means that there is either a lost contact inside, or a defective switch.

The kettle must be taken apart to fix the problem.

Automatic switch off not working when water reached boiling.

There is no do it yourself fix for this problem. However, placing a folded cloth on top of the kettle (covering the spout) will cause it to switch off quicker, as it increases the pressure inside the kettle.
