SOURCE: amp not working

1. Did you witness this amp ever working if not then you may have a blown amp. Hook up the speakers, get a portable player with a head phone jack get one of those cables with a headphone plug on one end and RCA's on the other plug the portable player into the amp and hit play. If sound comes out then your problems are elsewhere. If not I'm afraid your amp is probably toast. If the OHM rating of the speakers are too low for the amp then the amp will go into protect. This will be indicated by the protect LED lighting up or the power led changing color from say green to red.

SOURCE: AMP FOR SUB SHUTS OFF SOMETIMES

your amp may be overheating, or you have it up too loud and the surge protector is shutting it of in fear of damage to your amp.

SOURCE: Amp goes into protection

First change the wire, and disconnect the subwoofers to check if the amplifier turn on without going in to protection mode,if the amplifier go to protection mode you gotta change the Audio amplifiers IC's because they are in short circuit. And if don't go in to protection put one speaker at a time to check if one of them are damaged.Good luck.

Hi there,

this should be fairly straight forward so here we go.

Firstly, do you have your speakers connected properly? If you get sound from anything else plugged into your amplifier, then all is good here.
If you have not used the amp ever before then I will try to explain all.

You should have at least 2 speakers attached to the amplifier. Each speaker has 2 wires (1 positive, red or + and one negative, black or -) Have a look on the back of the amplifier and you should have e series of connections for the speakers, these are also marked in the same way as the amp. the connections will be marked as;
FR - Front right FL - Front left RR - Rear right RL - Rear left C - Centre
Fairly easy so far. If you are just listening to music then unless you want surround effects then 2 speakers will do.
Now to the record player. Again should be fairly easy, you should have a twin cable with red and white plugs on the end and there may also be a thinner wire maybe with a small metal horseshoe on the end. On the rear of the amplifier, look for sockets marked phono. The right and white twin wire plugs in here. As for the thin wire, there should be a thumbscrew on the back of the amplifier, unscrew this and attach the thin wire here.
Now when it is all switched on and you select phono on the amp you should have sound
hope this helps

verify your amps input. hook up a portable cd player with a headphone to rca "y" adapter to the amp and try that, to make sure it isnt an issue with the reciever/cd deck oir the input circuit. if the amp works correctly with the protable cd player/ walkman.mp3 player whatever, instead of the car deck, then something is wrong with your decks audio output. if it does not work with a secondary input device then perhaps you have the power hooked wrong. there should be both a red and yellow power lead from the amp, the red should be connected directly to the battery, and the yellow to the "acc on" (any circuit that turns on only when the car or stereo is turned on, sometimes connected directly to the stereo). both can be connected directly to the battery, but the yellow would need a switch, in that case, to turn the amp off when not in use.

Wiring problem

If you have an aftermarket stereo, the hook up is fairly simple. On your amp there should be a minimum of 5 terminals and an audio input. one is for remote which is connected to the blue wire on your stereo. Second is your ground which is your negative connection. it should be connected to the body of the car close to the frame. Third is your hotwire which is the positive lead, it should go straight to your battery. The fourth and fifth are speaker wires, you may have 2 or more of these that have + and - signs above or below them. When wiring the speakers make sure to match the positive and negative connections on the speakers. If your rewiring all of the door speakers to your new amp then the colors that you see once you have them out are the colors you route to the appropriate locations on your amp. If this is for a sub then you just the connect th positive terminal on the sub which is red to the + on the amp and the black terminal on the sub the the - location on the amp.

Lastley there should be an audio input that runs from your stereo to your amplifier. This wire should be ran as far away from the positive wire as possible to avoid engine noise coming through your speakers.

Troubleshooting amp setup

You probably need your remote wire re-hooked and make sure the ground wire is good and the remote wire is connected to the right wire(the red wire).

New cd player made in china

The yellow wire does not get used unless you have a power antenna to hook it to. The red wire is suppose to be hooked to the wire that was used as power for the stock stereo, so it turns on and off with the key. If you have it hooked to constant power, it has power coming to it even when it's turned off. That and the fact that you may need a better ground is most likely the reason you're getting the moise even when turned off. You may also want to check your speaker connections.

I replaced the cd player in my accord, the one before worked when i took it out, the radio i put in works as well tested it with hot and ground wires and a speaker to every terminal before i hooked it up...

On many cars there is an exterior amp that the sound goes through before it is sent to the speakers. If the remote turn on wire isnt connected after you take your previous cd player out then the amp wont know when to turn on and therefore no sound will come from your speakers although your cd player is doing its job.

Red light on the amp.

Have you checked your speakers to make sure they're connected to the amp (a wire could have broken or pulled loose)?

Have you confirmed that you have a good signal reaching the amp?

The red light isn't always a good indicator that the amp is functioning properly. If you have speakers connected to the amp and have a good signal feeding the amp, the amp may have failed.
