Did you check the windows 7 compatibility listing for your Star printer? Find out here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/

If it is not listed, it will not run under 7. I hope this helps you with your trouble.

Computer doesnt recognize the printer

1.) Check the power plug for the printer and make sure all cords are connected properly.

2.) If the printer plugs in via USB, try all of the USB ports on your computer. (if not disregard)

3.) Uninstall old printer software/drivers (if any)

4.) Sometimes all you need for it to recognize the printer is to restart while it is plugged in.

5.) If you think the printer isn't recognized, still try and print something. You may find it to be a choose able printer in the print window.

Hope this helps!

When I upgraded to Windows 7 yesterday, my Canon laser multifuncition printer doesn't print. It shows up as an "unknown device" in the device manager which lists it as a...

Don't believe everything they say as Windows 7 does have some bugs to be worked out. Take out the printer program completely and then download the program with windows 7. Windows update should fix that for you by plugging in the device after you take it out. You can download the correct driver from the canon site if needed.

I am sure that, you have not installed the drivers of that printer, because Windows 7 recognize most of the printers automatically however the printer and fax machine would start working properly the time you would install the printer drivers on your system and laptop, please let me know it works or not, so i can send you next update on it

I have window 7 64bit and the keyspan software installed fine but the server utility does not recognize the print server. I allowed port 3842 tcp and udp through the windows firewall but still no luck.

for key span server to work with windows 7 install windows xp mode to windows 7 ( this can be downloaded from microsoft website if you have windows 7 pro and above. if you have windows 7 home then install windows virtual pc, start it up and insert a windows xp pro install disk. for info on this google 'workaround to install windows xp mode in windows 7 home premium and home basic') Once you have windows xp mode running, install the keyspan server utility int he virtual machine and setup as usuall. then share the printer. go to windows 7 devices and printers and add a printer, chose a network printer, select the new virtual machine and select the shared printer. In order for the printer to work just start up the keyspan program from windows 7 and print....your welcome.

Star TSP 100 do not print in access 2003, access said is over the 22.75" limit

Miguel963,

I hope you have solved your problem in the mean time (9 months ago!).

I just bought the same printer and ran into the same problem. After looking on the internet for a solution and finding none I read the software manual a couple of times again and came up with this solution.

Access is right when it claims that the report's length is over the 22.75'' limit. The paper size of the 72 mm x Receipt is 72 mm wide and 3,000 mm tall; 22.75 being 577.85 mm. This means that the selected paper size is more than 5 times too tall.

The simplest solution is to choose the 72 mm x 200 mm paper size.

Next you need to go to the properties of your printer (Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes > Star TSP100 Cutter (TSP143)). Select Printer > Properties. In the Properties dialog select the Device Settings tab. Under Installable Options, set the Paper Type to Receipt. Setting the paper type to Receipt will cause the pages to have a variable length.

While you're there you might set the Page Cut Type to No Cut and set the Document Cut Type to Partial Cut.

Works like a charm for me.

If you really want you can even add Access's favorite paper length to the list of paper sizes. To do that you need to go to My Computer > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. The best way to go there is to use the Windows Explorer or something similar. Under the File menu in Windows Explorer you'll find an option Server Properties. The Print Server Properties Dialog Box is shown. On the Forms tab you'll see a Forms on: <ComputerName> list. Locate the Star paper size of e.g. 72 mm x 200 mm and select it in the list. Once you check the Create a new form check box you can give it a new name. I called mine 72 mm x Access and modified the paper height to the 22.75'' or 577.8 mm.

However, I ran some tests and it doesn't seem like this last step is really necessary. Even with the 72 mm x 200 mm paper size selected for my Access report I printed tickets that were 5,000 mm tall without any problem.

Upgraded to windows 7 and my hp photosmart c6180 is not printing

one option you have is to go to hp/support type in your product c6180 you'll have software download options for windows 7. These downloads should enable your printer to print again. Although from using windows 7 the os has been very good at recognizing printers when plugged in. Could try unplugging and replugging the printer in from the usb. Windows 7 might recognize and automatically download the correct drivers. If not download the software from hp.
