DEAN SR142GPS Flame Issue

The unit wasnt getting gas to the pilot. I took it apart to check if it was clogged and found it was cleaner then hell inside. I put it back together and turned to the pilot position and without pushing the pilot you could hear gas going to the pilot. I lit it and turner it to the on position but when I did that the pilot stayed on and there were three little flames on the gas pipe at the bottom but there was no huge flame that appears on the other 2 fryers i have. i dont know any terminalogy for fryers but i know its not carrying the gas up the three things to create a huge flame to start boiling. can anyone tell me whats wrong. thanks a lot.

A gas valve is actually 2 valves in one. The first is your pilot valve, when the pilot is lit, the flame heats a thermocouple or thermopile & that heat produces a millivolt signal that is sent to main gas valve( second part) & tells it that pilot is established and to open to allow main burners to light. The 3 "little flames" were coming from the orfices on the burner manifold. If you are absolutely sure you put the gas valve back in the same direction as it came out (arrow on bottom of valve pointing to the fryer/burners) & any springs or adjustment screws were not mucked with, then there is a malfunction in the gas valve. It needs to be replaced.

Empire BF-30-2 heater flame diminishes after a few minutes and then goes out shutting the pilot light off too. What could be wrong?

There are several possible causes for the described issue with your Empire BF-30-2 heater. Here are a few things to check:
  1. Dirty or clogged burner: A dirty or clogged burner can cause the flame to diminish or go out. Make sure the burner is clean and free of any debris.
  2. Low gas pressure: If the gas pressure is too low, it can cause the flame to diminish or go out. Check the gas pressure and make sure it's within the recommended range.
  3. Faulty thermocouple: The thermocouple is a safety device that shuts off the gas supply if it detects that the pilot light is out. If the thermocouple is faulty, it could be shutting off the gas supply even though the pilot light is still lit. Check the thermocouple and replace it if necessary.
  4. Faulty gas valve: The gas valve controls the flow of gas to the burner. If the gas valve is faulty, it may be shutting off the gas supply even though the pilot light is still lit. Check the gas valve and replace it if necessary.
  5. Oxygen depletion sensor (ODS) tripped: The ODS is a safety feature that shuts off the heater if it detects a low oxygen level in the room. If the ODS has tripped, it could be shutting off the gas supply. Make sure the room is properly ventilated and reset the ODS if necessary.
If none of these solutions solve the problem, it's best to contact a qualified HVAC technician to diagnose and repair the issue.

Dean deep fryer won't regulate temp

It sounds like you have replaced a number of parts in an effort to fix your deep fryer, but the issue persists. One potential issue could be that the gas pressure is not properly regulated. If the gas pressure is too high, it can cause the flame to burn too hot and not be regulated by the thermostat. It is also possible that there is an issue with the ignition system. If the ignition system is not functioning properly, it can cause the flame to go out or not ignite at all. It might be helpful to check the manufacturer's manual or contact a professional for further guidance on troubleshooting and repairing your deep fryer

Honeywell sv9520

check for gas at pilot tube first . if there and pilot not lighting then pilot line or orifice is clogged. if pilot is lighting check for 24v to main gas valve terminals. if have voltage either you have a bad gas valve or carry over tube on rack is clogged . if older unit clean carry over tube reinstall and check for voltage and if lights if not then gas valve is bad

My uniflame has two burners and one does not ignite. Everything seems to be tight. What can I do to get this to ignite when turning ignition knob? Thanks!

When you say two burners, I believe you are referring to the pilot flame and the main burner. The pilot flame has to light and heat the thermocouple befoe the main burner will ignite. The pilot flame will not light if: there is not enough gas in the tank, the pilot jet is clogged, or the regulator is bad. Check the tank to make sure it has gas. The next thing to check is the pilot jet. You have to take the heater apart, somewhat, to get to the pilot jet. The tube and the orifice need to be cleaned out, compressed air in a can and a pipe cleaner make the job a little easier. If this does not work, replace the reglator and hose.

Unit ( model SR142gp serial 0608MA0448 - propane fuel ) operates as designed, but can not cut flame to pilot with the thermostat. must cut the gas control to pilot to the get pilot flame & pilot...

The pilot light should remain "ON" all the time. It is not intended to ever go off, unless you are not going to use the fryer for several months at a time. Then you can just shut off the propane which will shut off the pilot light flame. It does not cost that much to run the pilot light all the time. About one to two dollars a week.

I am not able to get the pilot light lit on my frymaster gas fryer. I have had this issue before in the past two months and it was a clogged gas orphus. Were is the gas orphus located so that i can take it...

All Manuals are available on Frymasters website. the orifice is located in the pilot line where the gas line connects to the pilot. You will have to unscrew the fitting and remove the orifice. It is best to clean the entire pilot assembly and the gas line going to the orifice. Many times when a pilot tube has leaked and possibly burned incorrectly, the gas line can fill up with suit. Your clogged orifice could recur if the line is not cleaned as well. I have had to return to customers locations only to find an orifice I cleaned was clogged again. I then removed the pilot feed line, when I blew through is it filled my hand with black suit. It can be a messy and frustrating job to pull all this apart. You may want a professional. Be sure you have no gas leaks upon completion, use soap bubbles to check for leaks! Click here to download manual from frymaster

Hi, my fryer was shut down during the off season and now the pilot wont't light up . There is gas in the tank, all the gas faucets are on ...Is there a commonly known reason for pipe clogging? plz help ....

You must take apart the pilot assembly, remove the 1/4" aluminum tubing and the pilot generator. use 1/2" wrench for the pilot tubing and 7/16" wrench for the generator. with a lighter near the tubing opening..push the knob on the valve and see if you get about a 6 inch flame. Inside the pilot assembly in a small steel pilot orifice. (kinda looks like a small thimble). Take it out. Make sure that is clean... you can use a wire brush. That should solve your problem.

Unit shuts down after 1 or 2 min.

Yeah, I've got a solution. SHUT OFF YOUR GAS SUPPLY VALVE FIRST!!! If your pilot won't light or if it lights and kicks off soon then check the orifice. I've got a 30,000 BTU LP gas unit. when my pilot did light, the flame was not totally encompassing the thermocouple nipple which lies behind the sparker/igniter furthest away from the flame. It cause the thermocouple nipple to cool too much and shut off the unit. I took the unit off the wall. I undid the four screws on the back of the unit, which holds the glass front plate. Then I took apart the multi-sectioned brass piece that is attached to the gas feed line for the pilot with a 13 mm and a11mm open end wrench, or you can use a small adjustable and a set of pliers. The second brass piece, the 11mm one, from the gas feed line, is the orifice. It has a tiny little hole in the center. I stuck a pin in it and cleaned it out from some debris that had clogged it. You do not have to take off anything else but those two pieces going from the gas feed tube. I put it all back together and I'm back in business. Now if you do this and it still doesn't work, buy a new thermocouple. They're cheap. Somewhere between six and ten bucks last I looked, Honeywell makes them and they fit most gas units besides Glo-Warm. Have a nice Day. Cadge

I have two dean sr142gps fryers and am looking for an owners manual. I want to know how to adjust the flame onthe burners.

The only way to adjust the flame is by changing the orfices on the burner tube manifold. Dean is owned by Frymaster & you can contact their technical Dept @800-551-8633
