Hi, I have a Garmin eTrex Legend of which the joystick does not work.
I opened the unit, and have found that the unit when shorting two pins for each direction, works 100%, but the actuall toggle switch must be broken.
If anyone knows where to get the spares, please let me know. Everything else works 100%.
Garmin has used inferior quality joystick switches on this product. They don't last very long, and they (garmin) say they don't have any joystick button spares.
Been stuck with this issue for months.
So anyone that can point me in the direction of the spares would be appreciated. Either just the spare or a dead GPS unit that I can strip.
I have the same problem with my Legend. It looks like a standard 4 way micro switch. Should be available from the original manufacturer (which of course is NOT Garmin). It would be nice if someone could suggest where to get such a micro switch. Anyone able to help us?
I have a Vista with the right joystick zone dead, can jump pins to make it work OK, need a new joystick. My joystick has 511GB 3210 on it,maybe a part number? Any electrical engineer types might recommend a replacement unit?

Same probem as above. Will not buy another Garmin.
I had a similar problem with my first unit. I returned it to the store where I bought it, and they were kind enough to give me a new unit because it was still under warranty. Normally, it would have to be sent to Garmin for replacement under warranty. It might be worth a try if your unit is still under warranty.
