I had the same problem with my LG side by side fridge. After lots of hassles I found that one of the switches on the control panel had moisture in it. After changing the faulty switch all my problems were solved. No more beeping by it self and all the buttons work fine.
Check the owner's manual or Google for one. Check to see the interval in which you should be replacing the water filter. Water Filters can usually be purchased where you purchased your fridge or a big box hardware store for around $30-$40. In most cases, you should be able to reset the water filter alarm to clear the beep w/o replacing the filter.

The door alarm beeps constantly on my GE Prof Arct. The filter light is blinking when it beeps, but I do not have it hooked up to water. Is there anything I can do to stop it?
