Yes it could and most likely is the power supply board. If you look at the capacitors on the board you may see some that appear swelled or puffed up at the top. If you see any that are puffed up they are leaky and replacing them may fix the problem. Some times if the Inverter board is bad it will not let the TV come on. a LED will be blinking. If you have no power at all it is most likely the power supply.

Hello,
this problem can be fixed by opening the back cover of the television to check for blown fuses, and if found replace with the same current rating and if otherwise the power board supply is bad try websites Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

37 inch LG LCD won't turn on due to power failure

Power failures can cause all types of problems, have you firstly checked the fuse in the mains plug? If that is ok then it may have blown an internal fuse in the power supply board, these are there to protect the rest of the circuit from power surges.

Sharp 37 inch aqous tv power button blinking red

If the blinking light seems to be blinking in a pattern, then it is an error code. The end result in any case, is the main power supply is not functioning properly, or the backlight power supply has a problem.
