SOURCE: monitor doesn't work

I'd try this monitor on a spare computer. It sounds like the video card (motherboard integrated or otherwise)is not putting out any video information or missing sync signals. The monitor must receive these signals or it will go into standy/sleep mode. If the computer has integrated (on motherboard) video, check your bios settings to see if it is properly enabled. If it has a slot video board, then try a different video board. Your present board might be dead. Another possibility is a bad cable connection. check the connectors for bent pins. Assuming the connector is the standard HDB-15, it is easy to bend a pin over.

while the monitor is still powered on, but with the LED flashing, unplug the monitor from the PC. press the power button, and the monitor should go off, now plug the pc back into the monitor. Turn the monitor back on and it should work.

Occasionally this will not work for me, but if I repeat it it normally works

Hope this helps - my problem is intermitant so it may be different to what u guys have

SOURCE: Benq FP937s Monitor - no display

Usually this type of problem is due to a faulty electrolytic capacitor on the monitor's power supply board or the inverter board that powers the backlight lamps. If you have a soldering iron and some technical skill it's possible to repair this yourself, if you can determine the bad component. Look for a capacitor with a domed top, or what looks like corrosion or leaked fluid on the top. If you replace the capacitor with one of the same rating and type (in volts and microfarads (uf)) it may fix the problem.

The backlights are usually not the problem in this case, I've fixed dozens of monitors and it has always been a faulty capacitor.

If you are willing to try this, there are lots of resources on the internet that will provide instructions for how to do this. Replacment capacitors can be purchased (usually $0.50 or $1 each) from many electronics suppliers and on eBay.

Good luck, happy repairing!

SOURCE: No display, green light on ViewSonic VP201b 20.1 LCD

I have two broken VP201 monitors with different symptoms. One was black screen green light - like yours. The other was purple speks flying all over the screen., purple tint.

I swapped the power supplies and display boards, both monitors had original problems. I swap the inverters and the monitor which was black screen now appeared to work okay - but slightly pink and the monitor which was purple speks is now black screen.

I would therefore assume that both my inverters gone, one being on it's way out. You probably have the black-screen case.

Hi...there,
It's seems you got a defective DVI card. Try using a VGA cable instead. Have nice day!

Does not turn on

Hello

With any monitor, check the following to determine if the issue is MONITOR related or COMPUTER related.

1. Verify the monitor is receiving power - use a known good power outlet and plug it into the monitor

2. Samsung monitors have a light on the power button - are you getting any color light from this? Orange means it is in "stand by" mode and is waiting for the PC to send it a signal. Green means the monitor is getting a signal from the PC and the monitor is on.

3. With the monitor on, press the buttons on the monitor to bring up the OSD (on screen display) that changes the monitor settings. If you have a green light on the power button and press one of these buttons (AUTO works best), this will display the monitor adjustment options on the screen.

If you see the on screen adjustments, your monitor is working and the issue may be with your PC. Move the monitor to another PC and verify the monitor is working correctly.

IF you don't see anything on the screen and the power light is green, the monitor has failed.

This could be the lights that illuminate the screen have failed (something that happened to my Samsung Syncmaster monitors after about 6 years of use) or the screen has stopped functioning. In either case, replacement parts are hard to find and a monitor swap is likely.

Can't find video signal

If screen says "Signal cable not connected " all the time till power led switches to Amber chances are monitor is ok and problem is with graphic card or cpu.Connect to Known working CPU and confirm that monitor is the problem.
If same problem persists on another working cpu after changing signal cable, the interface board in the monitor could be defective.

Mag monitor doesn't display bios post

The BIOS is sending the display information to the monitor but, when you turn your PC on, the LCD will be sleeping and it will take 1~2 seconds to wake up when receiving the display signal. The monitor is working and even if the BIOS messages aren't displayed, you can still press the correct keystrokes to get to the SETUP screen or press PAUSE in the keyboard to see what's going on in the POST.
If your LCD has a bicolor LED indicating the status (Standby/On) keep looking at it, when the LCD gets the video data, the LED turns instantly from amber to Green or blue even if the screen is still black. This way you can have an idea when the LCD gets the initial video signal and to press the keys accordingly.
Your PC will also delay the video output from the secondary video card because it's detected after the onboard card.

Monitor Acer Problem

I agree it isn?t the monitor but I would suspect the video card you are connecting it to or the PC itself. Generally if a monitor doesn?t detect a video signal it will go into hibernation mode, typically displaying a no signal warning and changing the LED color from green to amber. When you start the computer is anything displaying at all? Are you sure the PC is powering up and booting?
