Water leaks out from the botton of the washer not the hook up hoses.
We have a WDSR2080D GE washer and had the same exact problem. We replaced the water pressure switch ($30) to see if that was the cause. A malfunction in this switch would cause the leaking from the bottom because there would be no way for the washer to "know" that the tub was filled to the appropriate level--causing the tub to overflow. Then we found out that the water pressure switch was not the cause and found that the water pump switch was the problem. A malfunction with this switch would cause water to continue to fill the tub without stopping--which would cause an overflow. Think of it as turning on a faucet without the ability to turn it off. Happily, we are now with a working and non-flooding washer at only a minimal expense. Note that the schematics for your washer are not in the manual. They are inside the control panel, which means you have to take the front of the washer off as well as the control panel in order to see what's really going on. My guess is that GE would rather consumers not try to fix their own appliances so they put instructions and helpful hints INSIDE the appliance.

The water pressure tube hooks into a small plastic box at the bottom of the washer tub. Mine keeps getting moldy and this keeps the sensor from working correctly. Obvious design fault - the first time it happened we called a repairman (still under warranty). He said it never completely empties and suggested running really hot water and bleach once a week through the machine - not really convenient!! Does anyone know how to clean this little reservoir out manually?
I have a GE model WJSR2080 with the above problem plus 2 others (bought in 2000):
1) very loud pounding sound during spinning cycle
2)after the initial fill of water, no agitation occurs, just a weird buzzing sound ( I notice it mostly happens when the washer is set to super load as opposed to small/large load)
Any recommendations??
