I have a CP-X300. The bulb has 1200 hrs on it. It has gotten a redish purple spot in the center of the screen. Do I need a new lamp or something more? Thanks

You have heat damage on one or more of the LCD units. They are not repairable and must be replaced to fix your fault. The cause is excessive heat possibly due to a blocked air filter or fan.

Purple spot which goes larger and stays on the boundaries of the display All text displayed has purple shadow

light chamber is over heating. when they do this you need a new chamber. I did find out that you can bring it back but you need heat tape. take the cover off and you will see the chamber. find were it is out of line. have it switched on and a good range rang on the screen and push the side in if the lines go back into place that is were it needs the tape putting. keep it on for a while to get the area warmed up. when hot put the tape on and make sure it stays in place. on the screen out. heat tape is the tape with silver cover on it use a few strips on top of each other. also clean the fans out. they get coated in dust and this is how the chamber over heats.

Purple spot on kdf-e60a20. Screen

its possible something in this DLP is on the lens that projects the picture onto the screen or the mirror (do not touch it) or between the lens and the inside of the screen---anything will if there show up in the picture.

In some cases I have used compressed air to dust these out but carefully.

TOSHIBA 57LX177 SHADOW SPOT CENTER OF SCREEN

If my research is correct you recently replaced the lamp and then the "shadow spot center of screen" appeared.

Three possible reasons I can think of for this:

Something wrong with new lamp or on face of lamp--never touch the face of a lamp as oil from you hand can leave a residue and damage the lamp or cause a image issue.

Something inside on the optical lens or even the mirror causing this--not likely but possible.

A defect in the optical light engine in the set---usually if heat which comes from the lamp damages the engine it will be a color and not black---engine has a series of lens and baffles inside that heat can damage--causes minute separation inside of the lens etc.

If the old lamp works at all try putting it back to see if same issue--did you replace just the "bulb" in the housing or the whole cartridge?

If remove new lamp look at it and where it faces--usually a clear lens faces it and if some dirt on that..........

My Philips tv model50PL9200D/37 has hot spots in the picture. It doesn't matter what picture setting or adjustment it is on.Dark scenes show purple in some places.Light scenes show bright spots especially...

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Giant blue spot on 50" Hitachi LCD HDTV

The problem is an expensive one. The blue display has become distorted due to excessive heat overtime. The blue display is closest to the lamp and gets most of the heat. The Light Engine must be replaced by a repair shop to correct the problem.
