When pluged into the car liter outlet does the moniter light come on? 1 check the fuse by unsrewing the pin tip of the plug, look to see if the fuse is blown, you may need a OHM merter if you can't see if the wire is still in one piece. 2 check the cigar lighter in the vehical with another plug or lighter to see if it works if not then find whitch fuse is blown in the fuse box of the vehicle, and replace either or both.
Strange thing is that the monitor light on the 12v charger turns on. i have tried with other 12V chargers. They can charge my TomTom GPS but not my iPhone. The iPhone charges perfectly with 220v and even thorugh an USB on the Mac

I take it then your I-phone charges perfectly on your MAC. The only other sugestion is to clean the contacts that plug into your phone with rubbing alchol very gently with a q-tip and try again. Other than that return it to the i-phone store for a new one or have them test it.

I took my iPhone to a service and repair offce. They advised me NEVER to charge my iPhone with a 12V battery charger. Even Belkins 12v charger gives problems they told me.
I think this sounds very strange. Shouldn´t Apple inform about this if it is true ?
