I've wrestled with many crc1 and crc2 problems on IBM machines here at my shop. This is a malfunctioning bios chip on the motherboard. There is no simple clearing procedure for this problem. The chip or the motherboard has to be replaced. I've had about a 25% success rate in replacing the chip, and 100% success by replacing the motherboard. Chip replacement is a delicate procedure in which you have to completely disassemble the machine remove he old chip with a soldiering iron and resoldier the new chip to the board. Soldiering on the motherboard is something I wouldn't recommend without experience. I would recommend replacing the motherboard, It's much easier, and possibly cheaper, since replacing the chip may or may not work. If you replace the chip and it doesn't work, then you're out the money for the chip, and you have to replace the motherboard anyway. The price for the chip is about a third the cost of a new motherboard. You can get a decent price for a good used motherboard for the T20 series from Ebay.

Does any know how to fix a CRC1 error on an IBM laptop? pls help.

if you get this for a CD/DVD disc, your disc is bad...if you get this error on your hard drive, it means your drive is failing.

try to backup your data if possible and you will need to replace and reinstall all software. if the data is critical I recommend going with Drive Savers or another reputable recovery service.

Bad CRC1, stop POST task. The EEPROM checksum is not correct

This problem you may not be able to fix. There are a couple of things you can try.
1st Keep on rebooting your laptop until this error goes away.
2nd Replace the BIOS battery, it maybe nearly worn out. After replacement you need to go into the BIOS setting to set the Date & Time.

Error 0175

A bad CRC1 is a failed motherboard component, that generally has to do with the bios programming. Unfortunately, motherboard replacement is your only option.

0175 crc1 stop post task. can u please help how 2 fix this problem.. THANK U VERY MUCH... cool

CRC1 & CRC2 problems are caused by failed or malfunctioning motherboard components. Fixing this involes tracing the exact problem comnponent, generally a chip, resistor, or capacitor, removing, and replacing it on the board. I will warn you that this is a very technical task, and should be performed by a very good component knowledgable technician, not just any tech can do this. I've fixed a few IBM's with the CRC1 problem, only to have the machine run striaght int a CRC2 problem, and have to start the process all over again. I will also tell you that it's expensive in order to have it done right. It'sgenerally easier andcheaper to replace the motherboard.I know this isn't what you want to hear, heck this isn't what anybody wants to hear, but this is a serious/major problem, and unfortunately there are no simple fixes.
