I have a brand new THOMSON XC0380 Voice recorder. I cannot locate any file containing the "setup" process as described in the instructions. Folder A has a .VOC file that opened contains nothing but gobble de gook and the other file with the A folder is an Index file that contains the following text, IF A0000007A0000007VOCEND. Folders B, C and Dare all empty and the final folder has the DVM.exe file and a help file. That help file does not mention what to do if there is no "SETUP" file. What can I do from here to get a "SETUP" file so that I can download my voice recorder? Regards Chris Thomson, Yes I have the same name as the recorder.

The Thomson voice recorders appear to be the same as those of an RCA series. There is a software download for a 512MB RCA VR5220 recorder that might work on your 64MB one at http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/audio/voicerecorders/?sku=VR5220, or you might find something useful elsewhere on the rca site.

Control Panel, Sounds, look at Recording devices (depends on the OS you are using, you didn't mention, Vista, XP, 7,8?), Mic. Your Headphones jack, when in use, will cause the internal sound to disable, depending on OS the mic setup is a bit different but you should find it in sounds, recording devices.

I had recorded voice in PHILIPS (SAXX )which have been stored int the Recordings Library. But when i want to hear, i find a reply the " file format not supported". What to do to hear the voice...

If you connect your player to the PC and select your device in Windows Explorer you should find a "Voice" folder that contains your recordings. The files are named as voicexxx.wav and you can simply copy and paste them to the PC.
If you have problem with this and want to get additional help please define the exact type of your player because almost all the types of gogear are SAxx .

I have a RCA VR5320R digital voice recorder. My voice recordings are stored on the recorder, under folder "A," but when I attach the recorder to my computer, eventhough the device shows up under...

Your best bet is to play the recordings through the headphone connector to a pc audio line-in connector and capture the audio using something like Audacity. Then output them using audacity to mp3 to play on your mp3 player.

These units are notorious for their failing USB feature.

I deleted seven voice files off my Olympus DS-2300 and need them back! Can they be restored or retrieved?

Yes, those voice recordings can be recovered provided not overwritten(if you keep taken more records, then possible). The best way is to try some audio recovery software. Here are some for your option. Both programs can also recover videos and photos.

Photo Audio Video Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Photo Audio Video Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)

Note: Before your audios are recovered, do not attempt to save more files.

To remove setup.exe file on digital voice recorder rca rp5120

It takes up very little space (about 3 meg), I would recommend keeping the file on the device so you will have it when you need it.

You cannot play the .VOC files unless you use the proprietary software to either play the .VOC files or convert them to .WAV or .EXE.

But if you insist, you may use windows explorer and browse to the filesystem on the Digital Voice Recorder and delete the file named "Setup.exe" you will find in the directory called "SETUP". To do this, you may have to rightclick on Setup.exe, then click on properties and uncheck the "read-only" attribute. Now you should be able to delete the file. Repeat the process for the directory called "SETUP". If you try to do the directory first, you will be given the option to change the attributes of the directory and all files contained in it. That should work too.

WARNING:
At the very least, copy the contents (a single file called "setup.exe") to a safe place.
