Usually not a code. it is unlawful to drive without the parking brake feature hooked up.... but the way to do it is remove the wire from the parking brake and ground it. it will then think the parking brake is on

The face or screen will not open up when I touch the disc or sd card symbols on screen. Also the symbols to adjust the screen are not lit up anymore.

You may not have this wired correctly, these screens require you to wire the unit to the parking brake so that you may not drive while watching videos either from a DVD or SD card. Therefore you must either bi-pass the safety feature or wire it correctly, although in some states having the video feature enabled while drive can be illegal. Hope this helps, YouTube has some instructed videos on how to bi-pass the safety feature.

Dvd not play

A lot of the video screen units are on a lock down mode unless the parking brake is set on your car as a safety feature to make sure you are not watching while driving, there are ways to bi-pass this safety feature but do know it is illegal in some states. Trying YouTube for a way to bi-pass your safety feature sometimes its a lot easier than you would think.

How to adjust parking brake. do you need to take anything apart?

You cannot adjust the cables on a minivan manually. the tension is automaitcally adjusted by the self adjuster on the pedal release.

The park brake cables on this vehicle have an automatic self adjuster built into the park brake pedal mechanism. When the foot operated park brake pedal is in its released (upward most) position, a clock spring automatically adjusts the park brake cables. The park brake cables are adjusted (tensioned) just enough to remove all the slack from the cables. The automatic adjuster system will not over adjust the cables causing rear brake drag.

Due to the automatic adjust feature of the park brake pedal, adjustment of the parking brake cables on these vehicles relies on proper drum brake.

When the park brake pedal is applied the self adjuster is by-passed and the pedal operates normally to engage the park brakes.

When a service procedure needs to be performed on the park brake pedal or the park brake cables, the automatic self adjuster can be manually locked out by the service technician.

Is the park signal wire supposed to be hooked to the ground side or power side of parking brake switch? I'm trying to install a kvt 512 for a buddy, and the dvd player wont work with out the park signal.

If you want to by-pass the parking brake wire, here's how.
Most wiring harnesses have a solid orage wire for illumination of the radio2_bing.gif and also have an orange wire with a white stripe for dimming purposes. Most radios do not use this dimming feature. Connect the brake wire to this wire and your able to watch your movies whenever you want. All the wire is looking for is a signal. It cannot differentiate between a parking brake signal and a non-parking brake signal.

Dual xdvd700

This unit is designed so that it may be operated only when the vehicle is in “Park” and the
parking brake is fully engaged. To this end, this unit includes a parking brake lock-out
feature which prohibits the unit from operating if the vehicle is not in “Park” and/or the
parking brake is not fully engaged. When installing this unit, the installer must connect
the parking brake detect wire (“Yellow-Blue Lead”) to the parking brake mechanism in
order to make the parking brake lock-out feature operable. DO NOT simply ground the
parking brake detect wire to a metal portion of the vehicle. Failure to properly install
the parking brake lock-out feature could lead to driver distraction which could result in
serious injury or death to the driver’s occupants or persons outside the vehicle and/or
property damage.
Once the parking brake lock-out feature is installed, the owner/user must not attempt to
disrupt/neutralize the parking brake lock-out feature by (a) partially engaging the parking
brake and/or (b) purchasing/using any device or unit designed to send necessary brake
signals to the unit. Failure to follow these instructions could lead to driver distraction
which could result in serious injury or death to the driver’s occupants or persons outside
the vehicle and/or property damage.

you could just earth the system straight to the veihicle, which will then dissengage the play in park feature, here is the website for the online manual

Question jensen vm 9512 put in pat code still getting cannot wash wille driving

You cannot watch while driving as it's a safety feature of in-car dvd players, to by pass, disconnect from handbrake/parking brake switch.(found at the base of handbrake/parking brake). But doing so makes the use illegal in most countries not to mention dangerous.

Place DVD in player, when you hear sound press stop twice.  With the remote key 26604 then ok, make sure you have grounded the brake wire.  You will now have video all the time.
