Have you ever experienced your Mac desktop looking normal like this:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then suddenly, your screen fills up your entire Desktop screen like this:And when you scroll, it still looks like this? What you are experiencing is an oversized screen, where every font and pixel on your monitor screen is blown way out of proportion.
So how can you get your Desktop back to normal like this?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Believe it or not, it is easier than you think.
What you will need to do is select System Preferences on your Dock or from the Apple menu icon:
* Select System Preferences on the Dock:
* OR locate the Apple Menu icon and select System Preferences from the drop down menu:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You are going to have to open System Preferences and select the "Universal Access" pane, which looks like this:
Click on it to launch the Universal Access page and make sure
you move your mouse around, in order to see rest of the window.
Now work down the oversized window and click the "Off" radio button under "Zoom:"
And just that fast... Back to normal view!
As you can see in this screen shot, all you had to do was turn off
the Zoom setting in Universal Access, in order to keep your screen from looking like this:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Zoom feature is one of Apple's assistive devices for the visually impaired who actually need greater magnification in order to truly see, what is on their Desktop screen.
The Zoom feature can be triggered if the "On" radio button is turned on, or is the Zoom feature is on, BUT, has been reduced to normal magnification after this keyboard combination is pressed:
Apple Command Key + Option Key + the Plus (+) Key(Which will enlarge the desktop screen with increasing magnification)
You can also click the Apple Command key + Option Key + the Minus(-) key, which will reduce the magnification back to normal view.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This feature comes in handy if you are sharing your Mac OS X Desktop with a loved one, friend or client, who may have a visual impairment or poor sight and you (in the kindness and consideration of your heart) have enable this Universal Access Zoom feature, for their convenience.
This of course will work out great for both of you, because now you know just how to reduce the magnification of your Desktop back to normal when it is your time on the Mac.
So now you know how to reduce that Oversized Super-sized screen issue on your Mac... it should not throw you for a loop the next time it should occur!
