The fault code E2 means the electronic control detected the thermistor is shorted. It's either the wire harness connecting the thermistor and
electronic control is shorted or the
thermistor is indeed shorted or its resistance is too low. Measure the resistance of the thermistor then
refer to the temperature and resistance table for the normal
thermistor resistance values. Replace the thermistor if the measured
resistance is not in the table.
Check the wire harness for short circuit if the thermistor resistance is
good and make sure the connectors are inserted correctly to the appropriate terminals. Replace the
harness if shorted. The problem lies in the
electronic control board if no issue is found in the harness and the
connections.
The thermistor is located on the blower housing and
can be accessed through the toe panel. Shut off the gas supply if the dryer is gas type and
disconnect electrical power. Remove the two hex-head screws
from the bottom flange of the toe panel then pull the panel down and
off the cabinet.
Remove the hex-head screw from the lint duct bracket

Remove at least one of the wires from the terminals of the thermistor when measuring its
resistance. Remove the two-hex-head screws securing it to the blower
housing when replacing it and install the new one. Reassemble in revmy whirlpool duet dryer is - 18a0895.jpg of the disassembly steps.
You may try disconnecting one of the thermistor wires, insulate it then reconnect power and start the dryer. The wire harness is shorted or the electronic control board is malfunctioning if E2 still flashes after starting the dryer. Disconnect the wire harness from the electronic control board and restart the dryer. Trace the wire harness and look for the short circuit or simply replace it if E1 (thermistor open) is displayed instead of E2 after the wire harness is disconnected from the electronic control board.
The thermistor is indeed shorted if E1 is displayed instead of E2 after the thermistor is disconnected and the dryer is started. The only viable solution then is replacing the thermistor.
The electronic control board is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced if E2 still flashes after the wire harness is completely disconnected.
The electronic control board is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced if E2 still flashes after the wire harness is completely disconnected.
