Phone has a hum generating from speaker when hung up

If I understand you correctly, when you leave the handset in the cradle and press a line, you can hear the dial tone. But, if you lift the handset and then select a line you don't hear anything through the headset. If this is correct, I suspect the handset is damaged, the cord is damaged, or if you're lucky, the clips may not be plugged all the way in on both sides. If you have another phone that is the same, you can switch handsets to test this theory.

What does monitor speaker MS16 have to do with an organ? To use these on an organ you should be using DI boxes to convert to balanced lines into these speakers. Who knows what type organ you have as you did not give us a clue. There are some POOR QUALITY audio output add-ons that are foisted on people that supposedly put out line level audio from older Hammond organs... these are noisy and generate hum as they have not been engineered but instead tinkered.

Is the hum in the receiver-attached speakers or the sub?

How is the sub attached - RCA or speaker-level?

Disconnect the input(s) and see if it hums in the absence of an audio source. A bad audio cable shield or unwisely-routed audio cables will allow entrance of unwanted signals from external power sources, magnetic fields, even dimmer-controlled track lights. Sometimes, simply reversing the orientation of the ac power plug can eliminate humming.

If it hums with the sub attached, unplug the sub's power cord. Differences in AC ground potentials will generate hum across linked devices.

If there is a router or you leave your phone near the speakers that is what is most likely causing the problem. Check to see if anything that gives off a wireless signal (eg. microwaves, cell phones, cordless phones) are nearby, and try to see if moving one of those things fixes your problem.

If you disconnect the signal leads and the hum is away, it's probably a groundloop problem, or your equipment is generating the hum.
If it does not go away, the amps are defective

The hum is generated by incompatible Ohmage
one is 8 ohm the other 16 and it is overdriving.

If that does not appear to be the case then there is some lack of shielding on the plugs to the JVC.

But i would punt for the first option

noise can be generated since dust in the jack connector of your PC, bad sound card or belive or not, the socket. try to unplug another devices and leave alone the x240... compare.

It would play music if you had a music source plugged into the cabinet.

Without picking up the handset, press "1". Your humming should stop. It's the command for Background Music ON/OFF.

Unplug the minijack from computer to hear if it still hums. If not test speakers at another computer. if it works fine on other computer the sounncard is generating hum noise. Common problem is usually the earthing cable inside the minjack that is touching L or R speakerwire due to bending of cable and breaking off insulation. If youre up to it cut off minijack if its moulde and resolder a new one on.

This sounds like it may be a loose connection (ground) generation common mode noise or it may be a capacitor in the power supply going bad and not providing enough filtering of the AC voltage (allowing for 60 cycle hum). You should get a schematic for the speaker or just take some rule of thumb measurements of the power supply output, with an oscilloscope (you will be looking for ripple voltage, what you could do is use one of your good speakers as a comparison of good to bad.

If you do not want to work on this yourself, you could take the speaker to any TV repair shop or audio repair shop.
