Hi,

It sounds as if the actual T/V channel is out of tune.
I,d suggest powering the player On.
Then using channel 8-12 on the T/V to Scan for its frequency.
When you,ve located it to the Player.
Lock the channel, then use the DVD on Channel 8-12.

Mike @ compurepair.

p.s also check the output from DVD To T/V lead has,nt come loose.

Your DMR is telling you that it is set to listen for RC2 but your remote is transmitting RC1.

Two choices for a fix:

1. Put the remote back into RC2 mode by simply holding both the ENTER and 2 button for at least 5 seconds.

OR

2. Reconfigure the DMR to listen for RC1 by going into the function menus and selecting SETUP. Look for the remote control option. Change it to 1, it will currently display the value 2.

Enjoy.

SOURCE: Panasonic DMR- EA18 DVD player/recorder - Remote control Problem

I figured out, unlike all the other posts, you don't have an enter button. But Instead, you would hit the 2 and OK button at the same time for a few seconds. I had the RC1 message and I did the 1 with OK and it worked. so if you have RC2, you should hit the 2 and OK. Should work!!

I entered,in error, Command mode 3 on the set up and now the remote control won't operate the machine. The display keeps showing DVD 1,how do I restore things?

Try this (works for Panasonic) - remove the batteries from the remote (as if to replace them with new ones), press any button on it to clear its buffer, then re-insert them (if they are reasonably fresh). Point remote at unit, press 1 and ENTER/OK buttons together - hold for 10 seconds, then release. This should restrore the command back from remote to the unit, and it should now fully operate. Just something to try, it may work.

Many Panasonic DVD recorders operate on the same principle; there are 3 remote command mode settings (default is DVD1) - so it's very easy to make errors in setup, but just as easy to correct.

My DMR-EH50 is stuck in SP mode and when I hit the button on the remote it keeps displaying CHK REMOTE 3. Would you know what is causing this. I cannot get the unit to do anything at all.

Very easy fix.

Your DVD recorder can be set up to accept remote contol signals on any one of three channels. Remote 1, Remote 2 or Remote 3.

Your remote can be set up to send signals on any of these channels. You need to make sure your recorder and remote are set to the same channel.

Your recorder is telling you that it is set to receive remote control signals on channel 3. This means your remote control is currently set for a different channel.

Assuming that you have a genuine Panasonic remote, do the following,

On your remote press the "Enter" button and hold it down. Then press the "3" button at the same time for two seconds, then release both. This will change your remote so it sends signals on Channel 3 which will match your recorder.

Those clever people at Panasonic realise that you will be delighted with their products and will probably have several of their appliances in use. The different channels avoids switching all your Panasonic gadgets at the same time. Clever huh?

Panasonic DMR-EX768 displays message EXT-L and wont let me access the guide menu or record anything. Can anyone help please.

Hopefully you will have figured this out by now but you have accidentally turned on the external link function (used to automatically record from a sky box or similar) - simply press the ext-l button on the remote (second row from the bottom of the remote, 3rd button from left) to turn it off again and everything will work normally once more.

Panasonic DMR E55 DVD Recorder

Hi James,

When in EXT link mode the recorder is looking for a signal from the TV to start recording off the TV's timers system.

There is a EXT Link button on the remote control and pressing that will take the machine back to normal mode. The button is near the bottom of the remote.

Hope this helps

Panasonic DMR ES15

Got me too... If the buttons on the main unit work normally, then possibly main unit and remote control are using different codes. Main unit shows SET 1; change remote control code to match it: Press and hold [ENTER] and code number [1] keys for more than two seconds.
